[DISCUSSION] Reorganization of the Assembly Forums and Archives - Bzerneleg - 03-17-2019 Fellow Legislators, While I believe that the Assembly forums is currently, I would say, in a good and acceptable state, there are weaknesses and loopholes in which I think need to be addressed. Those issues have lead to a pileup of threads in the Assembly forums and archives, without a concrete, long-term solution to deal with the pileups. One of the things I want to happen is for a Legislator to not be able to find the things they need as a result of poor organization. Aware of the fact that there are many experienced administrators in this Assembly, may I ask that Legislators contribute their ideas and experience to together form a reorganization plan, which will in turn create an organized Assembly. RE: [DISCUSSION] Reorganization of the Assembly Forums and Archives - Nakari - 03-17-2019 What kinds of things are difficult to find? We have a search function, threads can be pinned, and active threads are automatically at the front of the forum. Is there that much of a problem...? [DISCUSSION] Reorganization of the Assembly Forums and Archives - sandaoguo - 03-17-2019 Our existing archives are basically a 1-to-1 mapping of our forum structure. We include link sub forums in areas like the Assembly that take you to the corresponding archives. What other model did you have in mind? I propose the Assembly Administration Team considers a significant expansion of this system wherein every past bill is retitled with a new designation as the prefix to the title. Let us use this code, 'A.A.LPA.05', as an example:
Is this a suitable solution? RE: [DISCUSSION] Reorganization of the Assembly Forums and Archives - Bzerneleg - 03-18-2019 (03-18-2019, 12:21 AM)Amerion Wrote: Is this a suitable solution? If we were to follow that system, will the code of the original bill be A.LPA? If I were to submit the 20th amendment to the Legislative Procedure Act, will its code be A.A.LPA.20? Ah, yes. Good catch The original example is flawed as typing in 'A.LPA' would only bring you to the amendments to the LPA rather than all the bills relating to it. The code should be redone. Using A.LPA.A.20 as a new example:
RE: [DISCUSSION] Reorganization of the Assembly Forums and Archives - Rebeltopia - 03-18-2019 I think thats over-complicating things... I don't think so. This new system would allow older Assembly debates and stuff to be more easily searched and referenced, making the Assembly more accessible. RE: [DISCUSSION] Reorganization of the Assembly Forums and Archives - Rebeltopia - 03-18-2019 Until 6 months from now when we have 4 "A.LPA.A.20"s and 2 " A.LPA.A.23"s and everything gets screwy. This works for the Court, but not so much for the Assembly. It wouldnt make the information any easier or harder to find. We should be titling our threads "[Amendment] Legislative Procedure Act" anyway. RE: [DISCUSSION] Reorganization of the Assembly Forums and Archives - Bzerneleg - 03-19-2019 I think the current bill coding system works fine, although what's better would be naming them based on the order of introduction, so if the first bill is introduced, it would be "A.1". If it's the 20th bill, it would be "A.20". To make it easier for Legislators to find what they want, we can organize legislations into different groups based on their subject or policy area. For example, all nomination and reconfirmation threads would be grouped together under [Nominations]. Legislations regarding constitutional laws will be grouped together and the same applies to legislations regarding general laws. |
