Different Election Law Change |
Currently the way our Local Council elections work, the top three vote getters are elected. However, I'd like us to change so the candidates aren't running against each other since, theoretically, nations might be spilt over their choices and lesser choices get picked.
As such, I'd like to make the following change: Quote:5. Local Council I'm sure someone can write this a bit tighter, but if we're in agreement here, I'd like to push this quickly so it can pass before the next LC election on February 15.

With the changes to the Local Council we passed recently, this change has to be done by the LC. We can't originate any laws about the LC itself.

Were they approved by the RMB side? Also, if that's the case, what about the Election Law? That's under Assembly jurisdiction ... Edit: There's also nothing saying this has to be started by the LC side. They may do it, but they don't have to be the ones to do it.

No, it hasn't been passed in-game yet, because of the elections. But that's all the more reason to not go through with this.
We really shouldn't be making changes to the LC. They're never going to learn how to do things themselves if we're constantly the ones changing things for them. This idea has merit, but it's not our place to do it. It's theirs.

So let's give their elections back to them, then :\
Upon re-reading the Charter and subsequent Election Law, it's my belief that if the changes put in the place governing the Local Council and contradictory and does not give the Local Council a way to change anything the Election Law since (a) LC cannot make laws contradicting the Charter or constitutional laws and (b) the Election Act, which dictates the election for the Local Council, is, in fact, a constitutional law.
As such, I'm motioning my original proposal to a vote.

As I noted when this was first introduced, my goal was to complete this before elections start for the Local Council and there is still enough time for that to happen, but time is of the essence here.
