West Carlisten does not have a regular army, however it has:
- a significant border police/security force
- the coast guard
- the militia: citizens who choose to participate get a minor tax break (as do those who can show that they are ineligible due to disability or such) and will train regularly on how to defend the nation in the event of an invasion and will keep guns (but not ammunition) at home for such an event
- the international force, a small volunteer force to serve in internationally sanctioned peacekeeping missions/humanitarian missions
