I support the treaty, with two observations:
  • We should not mention specific heads of state in Clauses 1.2 and 1.3, since those heads of state will not remain such forever. Instead we should focus those clauses to the recognition of the legitimate head of state, whoever that may be at any given time.
  • Clause 4.4 is unnecessary and could result in a good relationship being lost because of a possible failure to renew the treaty.

Posts outside High Court venues should be taken as those of any other legislator.
