TNP Government appoints new Ambassador to the region
Sanjurika succeeds predecessor McMasterdonia to lead its embassy in the South Pacific

Bzerneleg, Editor-in-chief

A letter of credence was sent 10 hours ago to the Prime Minister Farengeto from the North Pacific Minister of Foreign Affairs Malphe to request Farengeto to accept Sanjurika, as the new North Pacifican Ambassador to the South Pacific. According to the letter, Sanjurika has been a citizen of TNP and legislator in the Regional Assembly for 2 years.

The newly appointed Ambassador will replace veteran Ambassador McMasterdonia and be in charge maintaining communications between the two governments, improving and supporting interregional ties as well as aiding dual citizens in case they need such help.

The predecessor, McMasterdonia, has served as the Ambassador of the North Pacific to the South Pacific for many years. The former Ambassador is praised and will be remembered for his work to improve and strengthen interregional relations as well as the faithful execution of the office of the Ambassador and the duties and responsiblities vested in McMasterdonia.

Islands of Unity becomes new Minister of Regional Affairs
Islands of Unity won the special election after former Minister Nakari's resignation

Bzerneleg, Editor-in-chief

Former Delegate candidate, Islands of Unity, had his first ever election victory in the political career in the South Pacific. Finishing third in the very close July 2018 Delegate election, Islands of Unity failed to go to Round 2 of the election by 2 votes. However, not considering it a loss, the "newbie" candidate instead embraced the results and determined to continue his endless campaign for the pursuit what he called "librarian politics".

Carrying on the principles that he fought for throughout his political life, Islands of Unity entered the special election knowing he has got a good chance to make it his first victory and a foundation for later elections to come. He won 23 out of the 42 votes (55%), compared to North Prarie's 18 (45%). Out of a total of 42 votes in this election, 10 of them were private ballots. Islands of Unity won the private ballots with 6 votes, compared to his opponent's 3 votes and 1 RONs.

Despite Islands of Unity's plurality of votes, the number of Re-open Nomination votes (RONs) have been more popular with voters in recent elections. We have seen 14 voters choosing RON as their second preference, in which RONs accounted for 33% of second preference votes. 33% is an unusually high percentage for Re-open Nomination, which gives us a question that we have to answer. Are people satisfied with the candidates or is it just that in case their preferred candidate does not win, nominations will re-open?
