Quite a number of those signatures are fraudulent, but I think even once those are removed there will be a sizable number.  Also, a majority of MPs were not in favour of Brexit and since the referendum result was only advisory they could rebel when any legislation has to be passed on this.  The Liberal Democrats are already saying that they'll campaign for the next General Election (which could happen a lot sooner than 2020 now) on the basis of getting Britain back into the EU (when we haven't actually left yet).  The SNP are threatening to block it in Holyrood, although, in fact, nothing they do in Holyrood could technically block something the UK passes as a whole.  And people are talking about the possibility that Article 50 of the Lisbon treaty, which states how a member state might secede from the EU, might never actually be triggered and that it's a poison chalice for anyone who takes up the Conservative leadership.

Well, they already removed 77,000 signatures when it had about 2.5 million, so it'll end up with with millions of signatures. As of this post, the FTSE is down 0.82% and the trend might continue in New York. Brexit is having a major impact in global markets.
