So both houses of Parliament have finally passed the Brexit bill, meaning that the government now has the power to trigger article 50, which was supposed to happen tomorrow. It's not, however. The government are delaying until the end of the month now... More annoying, this means that the House of Lords has capitulated with respect to their amendments designed to protect the rights of EU citizens living in the UK. There is now no guarantee for them when the UK finally leaves.

And when the UK leaves it might remain the UK for only a little bit longer, as Nicola Sturgeon has begun the process of calling for a second Scottish independence referendum, and though I don't actually want Scottish independence, I can't really blame them either. Besides, the issues the Brexit vote brings about in Ireland already pose a risk to the Union, so I'm not expecting there to be a United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland for very much longer...
