[IC] Eggrarian-Ikaranara trade relations
#1

A message arrives at the appropriate Ikaranara office this afternoon, from the Eggrarian Trade Sector's Office of Exports and Imports.

Eggrarian Trade Sector
Official Notice from the Eggrarian Trade Sector
By Order of the Eggrarian Representative of the Trade Sector Oslow Crenshaw
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
10th May 2022
To whom it may concern,

We at the Eggrarian Trade Sector Diplomatic Office wish to extend our deepest well wishes. It is our understanding that Ikaranara serves as an excellent exporter in resource goods and wishes to expand its economic development through these industries. In our modern day, the global economy is an inevitability -- we have become a world dependent on each other, where specialization can become the lifeblood of a fully functioning economy, and where economic superpowers are built on the backs of Pacifica as a whole. However, it is a reality that the global economy has made it so that we must engage in this modus operandi, where specialization has become the standard.
As a general overview, the State of Eggraria's largest sectors involve the manufacture of goods and the exporting of said goods into the global economy. Our strongest industries involve the development and manufacture of computer technology, as well as complex woodworking and metalworking. These industries have kept our nation alive, built by the hands and sweat of the Eggrarian worker for the benefit of the world and the community of humans that inhabit it. Due to our laws in place regarding the protection of Eggrarian ecology, coal and oil mining/refinement of all kinds has been banned within our boarders, as well as large-scale extraction of various goods that cannot meet sustainability quotas. As a result, we are forced to import.
Because of this predicament, we believe your nation to be an incredibly effective candidate for future trade. We hope this letter serves you well to open continued discussion between our nations regarding the possibility of strengthened trade relations, both for our own exports and yours. With an ever-growing concern for the well being of the international community, it is paramount that economic partners be made and established in this world.

Our best regards,
- Office of Eggrarian Exports and Imports

Ikaranarean Trade Ministry

Ikaranara is very intrested in discussing potential trade relations with Eggraria. Ikaranara is capable of very large exports of abundant natural resources. The Centrus Trade Hall would love to see Eggrarian officials to talk about costs and amounts. Ikaranarean airports will welcome you.

Dr. Crenshaw boards a flight at 07:03 this morning to the Ikaranara International Airport [OOC: Correct me if there is a name for the airport]. Due to recent tensions in the Extended Mediterranean, the Representative opts for a private airport typically reserved for emergency government actions. "There's no harm in precaution," he mutters to himself upon boarding.

The news quickly catches wind. There were murmurs throughout the Trade Sector that deals would begin with Ikaranara, and this all but confirmed it. Flight records were public, so media across the board began providing their speculations. Economists worked all throughout the day to write and report back to news stations, reporters began standard procedures for such a big story, and the citizens were abuzz with curiosity over the first Eggrarian diplomatic meeting to negotiate international trade policy in two years.

Crenshaw's flight takes off at 07:15. As he leaves, a correspondance is sent to the Trade Ministry:

Dearest Brine Helegen,

I will be arriving within the day to begin discussion on our future in terms of trade between our two nations. Perhaps we could schedule a meeting in the next couple days as well? I will be visiting the area more generally during my trip as well. It is quite rare that I get an opportunity to see other nations and cultures, despite my love for travel.

Best regards,

Dr. Oslow Crenshaw
Representative of the Trade Sector

A letter arrives at the Sheild Flyers International airport, hand-delivered by a FIC (Federal Investigation Committee) employee. It reads:

Ikaranarean Trade Ministry
Dr. Onslow Crenshaw,
It is good to have notice of your touching down safely in Ikaranara. A meeting can be arranged anytime- but, in the downtime, you may call the number at the bottom of this letter and FIC vehicle will escort you to the finest hotel in Centrus City.

Safe travels
-Brine Hellegen, Ikaranarean Trade Minister

(P.S. The FIC insists that for security reasons the number we gave you must be temporary. It will only work for 7 days- But I imagine you won't spend a week on trade discussions without contacting the other party!)

The Centrus Trade Hall works rapidly to prepare for the first foreign guest not of Indavral decent in it's history.

[OOC: just to make clear, I'm not gonna put down a number in case of it actually existing.]

Oslow picks up his phone and dials the number with the correspondance. Having traveled with 2 security guards, he informs the FIC of his stay and waits with his belongings for the pickup.

Oslow looks out the window at Centrus City. Despite everything he's heard about Ikaranaran conflicts as of recent, he feels safe, having finally arrived and making his way towards the next step of this process. And what an important process it is! It's only necessary that the first of hopefully many diplomatic ties to Pacifica be kicked off by the Representative of Trade himself.

Upon arrival to the hotel, he reconvenes with Trade Minister Hellegen over whichever mode has been afforded to him. Oslow requests to plan for the meeting to occur on the 12th of May through the 13th of May, hopefully providing ample time to schedule meetings over the most certainly fruitful negotiation.

Brine Helegen tells Dr. Crenshaw that the date is perfect and sends a vehicle to bring him to the trade hall in the morning.

The Ikaranarean Trade minister was undoubtedly excited. Less than a year ago, his job was nonexistent, but now he is making contact with a nation on Baltiem. If he can negotiate a fruitful trade deal, it would be the first of it's kind in modern Ikaranarean history, and could very well determine Ikaranarean success on the world stage. Yes, the global economy was inevitable, and Ikaranara was late to it- but all the same, they would be a driving force in it.

It would not be long before Dr. Crenshaw entered the Centrus Trade Hall. Accompanied by an aide of his, the pair entered the building after going through the standard processes of entry. Oslow, having been watching the Ikaranaran foreign policy over recent time, was rightfully wary of possible security concerns. Nonetheless, he continued in stride.

His aide was a young up-and-comer into Eggrarian government, and someone who managed to impress the Representative early on in their term. Having been appointed as a personal aide for more intensive meetings and jobs, the official walked briskly with a sleek and organized binder full of internal documents, proposals, and preparation for the meeting.

Oslow approached the first person who looked like they knew what they were doing. "We're here to see Trade Minister Hellegen, on behalf of Eggraria. If you may, could you direct us where our path is from here?"

[OOC: Sorry for the late reply. Got preoccupied these past couple days]

A young woman nods at them. "Right this way, sir."

The hall leading up to the room is grand. Ikaranarean emblems and historical flags dot the walls. Many paintings depicting great events like the War of the Two Coalitions and the rebellion from the Father States line them as well. The greatest painting being the historical Tzaran surrender in the Ikeros Confrance in the former war.

The room they walk into is not as grand, but is still beautiful. The walls don great pillars with intricate carvings. But in the middle is a simple wooden table. Sitting at one end is Minister Helegen, and is aide, a young man who believed in the power of trade long before Ikaranara's rise to legitimacy. "Welcome, Dr. Crenshaw, glad to meet you! Do have a seat. I expect discussion to be fruitful." He gestures for his equal to take a chair.

Oslow and his aide sit down. "I understand that the situation in Past has brought many stressors to your foreign affairs, and trade is nonetheless affected. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to be able to sit down with you amidst troubling times."

His aide pulls out a document for the Minister and his associate. "If you may look over this," he continues, "it has pertinent information about our economic opportunities. I've taken the liberty to organize them by relevance to your own exports, if that makes things easier."

At the top of the list lies the usual suspects: computer manufacturing (an Eggrarian industry well known by this point, requiring ample resources across all disciplines), metalworking, woodworking, and many goods manufacturing plants. Across spreadsheets and information, virtually all information needed about the Eggrarian economy is at Ikaranaran fingertips.  "I hope my aide's work suits you well, Mr. Hellegen. We have a keen interest in your rubber, oil, diamond, steel, and timber industries. They certainly can make a customer out of Eggraria." He gestures the two to review and consider the suggestions presented to them.

Helegen takes a look at the spreadsheet. "I can see that our economies are well matched."  He points to data about computer manufacturing. "Ikaranara has been isolated for decades. as a result, we do have a severe need for computer technology". He signals to the man on his left- his Aide, and he passes over a spreadsheet of his own, containing information on vast Ikaranarean reserves of resources. "we are willing to give you 25% of the steel needed for your industry, in return for however many of your products you are willing to give."
The lady who lead Dr. Crenshaw to the room writes a few words down.
