Taijitu Consulate |
This is Taijitu's consulate, as you can see from the current design plan here, we are renovating it(as well as the region)
[Image: 569px-Ecclesia_seal.svg.png] October Update Taijitu Foreign Service Government of Taijitu Citizen-Delegate: Jutensa Citizen-Initiator: Myroria Citizen-Diplomat: Of the US Citizen-Sergeant: Dyr Nasad (The First Garrison) Citizen-legislators of the Ecclesia: Achamenia, Al'Khem, Allama (Jutensa), Amy (The Crazy Monkeymen), Applebania (Glorious Slabovia), Cameron, The Church of Satan (Mentok the Mindtaker), Corgi (Welsh Corgis Puppy), Delfos, Donald_ET3 (Rifhs), Dyr Nasad (The First Garrison), Eluvatar, Funkadelia (Aqualung), Gulliver (Gullivania), Letonna, McMasterdonia (Kumquat Fairy), Myroria, Of the US, Partisan (Exodas), Prydainia, Romanar, Sovereign Dixie, St Oz, Wast, Zimmerwald (Zimmerwald1912) General Assembly for the Drafting of a Constitution opens [Image: LWghyQL.jpg] Opening statements are made before the Ecclesia. Following rapid regional growth since the Glorious Revolution began in August, the Ecclesia has organized a convention to draft an official constitution to enshrine the ideals of the Revolution in law. After the dissolution of the Sovereign Dixie government in August, the old Constitution of Taijitu written in June 2014 was also scrapped, and the new direct democracy worked instead based on a collection of laws called the "Standing Ordinances". The laws, while effective, were simple and many questions about the functioning of the government emerged. Rather than wait for a crisis to emerge, the Ecclesia opted instead to hold a convention to address these questions. Issues that the people of Taijitu hope to resolve include: The existence of a court system. Is a judiciary needed? What should any official court resemble? Should it be separate from the Ecclesia? The role of the delegacy. Presently the citizen-delegate holds no real legal power in the government, and the office only exists to keep the delegacy in-game in trusted hands. But should the powers of the delegate be expanded into a real executive branch? The future of the Ecclesia. As Taijitu grows, will it be able to remain a direct democracy, or should the region transition to a representative model of democracy - or something else entirely? Other questions will surely be discovered as the convention progresses. The General Assembly for the Drafting of a Constitution is open to all Taijituan citizens, and contributions are welcome. The Rejected Realms - Taijitu Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation ratified [Image: L4sF9O5.jpg] The assembled members of the Ecclesia spontaneously salute the announcement of the Treaty's ratification. The Rejected Realms and Taijitu officially entered into a treaty of mutual friendship, defense, and cooperation last week as the document was approved by The Rejected Realm's Assembly, having already sailed 8-2 through the Ecclesia. The treaty may come as a surprise to some players who recall that in 2007 the Realms were invaded and couped by Red Kagran, a prominent Taijituan. The new treaty will likely be seen by both sides as a resolution to any hard feelings left over from the kerfluffle. The treaty was worked out in mid to late September by Citizen-Initiator Myroria and Citizen-Diplomat Of the US representing Taijitu and Delegate Unibot and Foreign Minister representing The Rejected Realms. Motivated by similar goals at the Regional Sovereignty Conference 2014 in Lazarus, an agreement on the treaty's contents was quickly reached and put before each region's legislature - The Realms' Assembly and Taijitu's Ecclesia, where it passed each congress handily. The people of Taijitu hope the treaty ensures a long and fruitful friendship between our two regions, and encourage Citizen-Augur St. Oz to look to the birds for good omens in the days ahead. Dyr Nasad elected to office of Citizen-Sergeant in tight vote [Image: 6mvKNdW.jpg] Dyr Nasad leans on a pillar as the final votes are tallied outside the Ecclesia hall. Two controversial elections this month established Taijitu's first professional army since the Glorious Revolution and elected a Citizen-Sergeant to lead the new force. On October 1, after a fierce week-long debate, the Citizens' Militia of Taijitu was established to defend the region's interest at home and abroad. Those pressing for the creation of a military argued for its necessity to safeguard the region at home and her interests abroad; those opposed raised concerns of the Militia threatening the Revolution's "gameplay second" policies. After a three-day vote, the proposed bill was passed 5-4. The bill creates an all-volunteer force with wide oversight by the Ecclesia, Taijitu's legislature. It also creates the office of "citizen-sergeant" to lead the new army; after another close vote, Dyr Nasad was chosen to take the office. He was opposed by St Oz; the Oz ticket was supported mainly by those opposed to the creation of the militia, due to a campaign promise that he would do nothing more than the law required. After a three-day vote, Dyr Nasad won the election 7-5. Any plan to use the Militia abroad, or even whether such a plan exists at all, has not been made public. November Update Taijitu Foreign Service Government of Taijitu Citizen-Delegate: Jutensa Citizen-Initiator: Gulliver (Gullivania) Citizen-Diplomat: Of the US Citizen-Sergeant: Dyr Nasad (The First Garrison) Registered Citizen-Legislators of the Ecclesia: 23 New constitution on path to passage [Image: 640px-CharlesThevenin-FeteDeLaFederation.JPG] Taijitu's residents meet for a public reading of the proposed Constitution, as an omen from above implies its imminent success. Taijitu's first constitution since the Glorious Revolution that brought direct democracy to the region is set to pass the Ecclesia, Taijitu's legislature, on the 27th. The new Constitution, drafted by Citizen Eluvatar with a Bill of Rights written by Citizen Zimmerwald (Zimmerwald1912), is minimalist in nature, specifying only that the Ecclesia shall make all laws, that all citizens may vote in the Ecclesia, and that any amendments to the Constitution or Bill of Rights may only be enacted after two separate votes pass the legislature by a two-thirds majority. The Bill of Rights, a considerably longer document, guarantees 14 individual rights to all Taijituans. The new document came to a vote after a constitutional convention that lasted nearly a month and a half. Of many proposed ideas, Eluvatar's minimalist draft attracted the most interest and was put to a vote on the 22nd. In a higher-than-average turnout, Taijitu's citizen-legislators have so far approved the Eluvatar-Zimmerwald draft unanimously. The vote is expected to end tomorrow with a victory for direct democracy, Taijitu, and the Ecclesia. Gulliver takes office as Citizen-Initiator [Image: Salle_des_cinq_cents.jpg] Gulliver (podium, right) addresses the Ecclesia after his election. Gulliver, one of Taijitu's original founders and former Delegate and Speaker of the Senate, took office this month as Citizen-Initiator after Myroria's resignation. Citizen-Initiator, a unique Taijituan office, is de jure responsible only for approving citizenship requests but traditionally acts as speaker of the legislature as well. In a wide-fielded election, Gulliver triumphed over competing candidates Funkadelia (Funkadelia Island), Wast (Annexea), and Delfos (New Delfos). In a post-victory statement, Gulliver said "[my election] happened. I would like to thank those who voted for me for their support." Winking, he continued, "those who voted against me will be ostracized in order to think about what they've done. [...] As Initiator I will make sure that our region moves forwards, not backwards, sideways, not oscillating, and ever twirling, twirling into the void." We thank Gulliver for his kind words and ask Citizen-Augur St Oz to look for good omens in the movements of the birds this fall.
(Apologies for the delays in posting, some sort of oversight presumably).
