Is it possible this new currency could be given out as prizes in competitions we hold, such as regional games, trivia contests etc? Might encourage a bit more participation, especially if you could actually spend your DL on something that is. Guessing an admin would just need to manually add it to the relevant account of the winners?
Interesting concept overall. I think it would be better if the amount of DL you earned was related to how strong your nation's economy is in game. I would like it anyway, for obvious reasons. Guessing that system would be too hard to set up though.
It'd be interesting, but then there are two things: (1) I have no idea if that is technically feasible, Glen would have to check that, (2) what about nations that roleplay a strong economy or who don't pay that much attention to their nations at all?

Right now, any kind of lottery or competition prize would have to be done manually. There aren't any kind of plugins like that for the system we use, because it's so new. The shops plugin can be rigged to do it, but it's up to the people running those things.
As for things to spend DL on, it can be used for role playing. I can envision people "buying" things like military assets, though it's up to the role playing to community to decide things like that. We can create any number of imaginary products for any number of shops. There are also ways for us to use it for access to special forum features, but I am unsure if the community at large would view that as "fair."
