[IC] Accession of Ryccia and Bonaugure
#11

I would like to thank the Ryccian Representative for their exposition. I believe we have enough to continue our deliberations regarding its admission. I remind the Representative that future deliberations are reserved for current members of the Organisation.

Laura García
Permanent Representative to the Southern Cooperation Organisation
Republic of Kringalia

[warn=unofficial]That's enough Ryccia. In the South Pacific there is no such thing as the League of Nations, the United Nations, the Geneva Contentions or World War I. There is also no place called The Hague, since there is no country called the Netherlands in the South Pacific.[/warn]

The Democratic Republic of Bonaugure has been serving as a support member of the SSU. However, appealing for a peaceful ending to the conflict: in first instance, to the blockade; furthermore, to restore economic, political and industrial relations among the members of both the SSU and the SCO once the war reaches the conclusion through a treaty. If so, the Bonaugurean Medical Support might be able to help clearing the radiation from the bombarded zones and healing the survivors due the term of this year, since our health care is focused around genetic treatment.

Sincerely,

Bonaugure's MoFA, Dr. Erika Tachibana
National Council, Daheim, The Democratic Republic of Bonaugure.

Better known as Bon.

The Awesomiasan delegation is of the opinion that the Ryccian government is unable to uphold its obligations, with respect to the area of human rights. Based on the testimony that the Ryccian government representative has provided before this Council, it is evident that only those who committed the most violent crimes were executed and all others involved, including leaders of the SSFR, were pardoned. The two extremes, namely the death penalty and going off scot-free, suggests a lack of desire for rehabilitation of criminals, as well as serious inconsistencies in the judiciary of Ryccia, perhaps perpetuated through bribery or disregard for the rule of law by judges. The pardoning of SSFR leaders will also mean that socialist ideology will have the possibility of spreading in Ryccia again, which may bring Ryccia and the greater South Pacific region to the brink of another civil war.

Furthermore, the use of 800 million civilians, a quarter of its total population as seen from a population survey conducted by the Kingdom of Sedunn, and several times more than the Ryccian landmass in the South Pacific can contain, to rebuild Ryccia is rather excessive and worrying, in that it may cause disruption to the Ryccian economy, given that these workers are salaried, and we believe that the Ryccian economy is not capable of sustaining both paying the wages of these workers and contributing funds to the reconstruction of infrastructure. The allocation of these 800 million civilians to reconstructing efforts, is also at the cost of these civilians being in other sectors, which may cause the Ryccian economy to fall into serious recession.

As such, due to Ryccia being unable to fulfill its obligations as provided by clauses 3, 4 and 11c of the SCO charter, we are obligated to reject the accession of Ryccia to the SCO.

Ahem

These are part time jobs, and to not put the economy in recession, they are being paid low wages, which they accept. Many of the applicants are worried about Ryccia's reconstruction, so they do not mind about low wages. Its their country, for God's sake! And not all of them are being paid. Volunteers work without salaries because they volunteered to work for their country. We assure that they are not being forced in any matter. They still work at their original jobs, but when they take a break or get out of work, they come to rebuild. Plus, we are building jobs for the unemployed as well.

In the SSFR judging, we are sure to be fair, so no corruption here.

As my Kringalian counterpart has mentioned, discussions on the matter of Ryccia's accession to the SCO is from that remark onwards for citizens only. Hence, the clarification that the Ryccian representative has provided, an unconvincing one at that, will be disregarded.

The Ryccian Delegation is reminded that it does not have a right to speak before this Council, unless explicitly invited to do so.

On the issue of Bonaugere's accession to the SCO, given that the nation has clarified its stance on being in the SSU, the Awesomiasan delegation is inclined to vote in favour of Bonaugere's accession. We hope that Bonaugere will commit to the ideals it has set out to achieve in its testimony, as provided by the Bonaugere representative.
