Anyway, today's January 29th. Exactly a year ago, the High Court, represented by then Permanent Justice Farengeto, delivered its ruling on the forum move. For the ones who haven't clicked the link, it basically said the move was illegal, as the Assembly hadn't been consulted. It can be said that the ruling was the trigger which led to the coup, but there was so much behind the scenes I can't say it with certainty. Then again, Imki is still here, so she can clarify if she wants Tounge

I'm more than happy to talk about what happened to anyone who is willing to come to me with an open mind and ask, always have been. Come at me with preconceived notions that we were all evil, it was about power and all the rest of that blah blah bull that y'all got fed and you wont like the response though~

Like Sam Discord is my preference, it's like IRC but better, more functional and has a convenient mobile app. If you haven't checked out our fabulous TSP server yet you totally should!

Well, today's January 31st. A year ago, former Delegate Hileville and his Cabinet, following the court ruling stating their prior actions were illegal, announced the dissolution of the Coalition, replacing it with the "Transitional Government of the South Pacific", and called for a constitutional convention to draft a new charter. Meanwhile, two of the legal admins, Kris Kringle and Sandaoguo, were ejected from the region for "their determined efforts to create strife and increase their personal power through illegal and unethical actions". Permanent Justice Farengeto was also ejected; the reasoning was vague, but he was accused in the Cabinet's statement of miscarriage of justice for not recusing himself in the legal case (according to them, as Farengeto had run together with Kris for the Delegacy two months earlier, it counted as a conflict of interest). Due to the three of them having been ejected without trial or being formally charged with a crime, the Government was accused of attempting to silence their opposition. Soon after, opponents of the coup organized themselves in order to defeat the Transitional Government by military means, with various allied regions pledging support. The following day, the standoff intensified: the exiled members of the Committee of State Security declared a state of emergency, and declared that Hileville and his Cabinet's actions were tantamount to a coup d'état. The crisis was inches away from escalating into a civil war. More on this on February 2nd, the anniversary of the coup's end.

Original statement by the Transitional Government

Statement by the Committee of State Security

Now, my opinion on this should be well known to the ones which were around at the time; I was a vocal opponent of the Transitional Government's actions, and considered them as an unquestionable coup d'état. I still think those actions were not justified, but I'm willing to "live and let live", to forgive, and to believe there were genuine concerns behind them. I believe we did manage to jointly address those concerns and create a more just system (granted, we still have work to do), and eventually heal the divisions. That was my take on the subject, I'm hoping nobody will be offended by it Happywide

Since returning, I have yet to talk to anyone directly involved with this. I have read Hile's post, and all the TG's sent at the time. I'd like to talk to Imkihca and possibly Kris/GR to get both sides of the story.

Well, Imki and Glen are easily caught on Discord (Glen as Hierocles). Kris is best on IRC or a forum PM.
