Haze in Indonesia and Outcry from Singapore
#1

Here's the wiki article about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Southeast_Asian_haze

El nino and some arsonists made wildfire, and the entire nation is enveloped in haze. It's spreading to indonesian neighbours, and Singapore has been vocal about it.

Java has yet to be affected, but the other islands are. Palembang is my hometown, and for the entire day, everyday of the month, the city has been enveloped in white smoke. Like a blanket on a turkey, you can't go out without smelling a cigarette-like smoke, and you can no longer see the stars at night. The moon glows orange, perhaps that'll give a clue on the haze's composition?

Two things I'd like to point out

1. Singapore has been very vocal about it, and is planning to prosecute the Indonesian government concerning the matter. Malaysia, Brunei and Thailand are also following the act.

2. The Indonesian population is ignorant to the fact, they thought it's a harmless fog, and therefore does not use the necessary equipments to repel the smog. Despite government cries and warnings, most of the population does not want to wear a mask.

The moon glowing orange is just the eclipse, actually.

Good luck with the haze. Do you have any Silent Hill cosplays, by any chance? Tounge

Poor Palembang. Its motto does not even suit it anymore! Sad

And what the hell is up with these constant fires? The Indonesian Government should crack down on them. Use the military, special forces, anything! Just vigilate those forests!

Singapore calling. You guys need to resolve your haze problems. This year was the first time ever that schools had to be closed due to high PSI levels. And the air reeks of haze. So yeah, do something.

Schools had to be closed? It was that bad?

If the PSI forecast was >300 (the highest ever recorded in Singapore was 401, in June 2013), schools had to close. And by schools, I mean primary and secondary schools (elementary and middle schools in America). Junior colleges (High schools) were exempt, so I still had school. The Ministry of Education's reason was that JCs had aircon and we were old enough to handle it ._.
