It was expelled by Malaysia in the 50's-60's. It did not have its own revolution. It just was expelled by Malaysia by tensions between the two(or am I wrong?).

There is nothing for you to understand, except to accept. Singapore may have became a sovereign nation against the will of its people, but it has largely turned out for the better, as compared to the situation that is confronting our neighbours up north in Malaysia.

It is despite our independence being involuntary, that our forefathers have set out ideals that our country will pursue, as laid out in the Proclamation of Singapore, issued on 9 August 1965.

And while I am not in favour of the state of politics in the country now, being that of a dominant-party state, it cannot be denied that it is as a result of the eminent leadership in the early years of Singapore's independence, that has shaped what was once a sleepy fishing village, into the developed, prosperous nation that it is today. To that end, whatever our political inclinations may be, I ask that we respect my nation's history.

This was the turnout at the Workers Party (the main Opposition party) rally the past two nights.

That is a lot of people.

That's around 10 thousand. A million would be a great deal of the city.

They had to shut down a station in the metro system for a bit just to allow these people to get home on the first day of the rally. When a group of people turning up for a public event can do that, you gotta know how powerful that is.

If anyone is interested, here's one of those party alignment surveys. There is no way to post the results though.

CPF is a compulsory superannuation scheme in Singapore, and streaming is the classification of students into different education pathways based on academic ability.
