#11

Im a Christian, so...

Can I throw rocks at a homemade jumroh?(God damn Satan!)

And Hajj is for an entire month?! Wow, you Muslims impress me everytime(not an insult, but a compliment. It is impressive how you do some things that would be impossible for me. Just for something you believe in. You are amazing! Smile)

This particular incident happened in Mina, as a part of the Islamic hajj travel, they are allowed to come to something called jumroh, where tall black pillars stood up inside a building. This is to represent satan, and we throw rocks to these pillars, as if we throw rocks to satan. This is jumroh.
Many of the rituals have become more symbolic; for example, it is no longer necessary to kiss the Black Stone; instead, pilgrims may point at it on each circuit around the Kaaba. Also, the large pillars used in the pebble throwing were changed to long walls with basins below to catch the stones for safety reasons. Another example is that the animal slaughter can now be done by appointing someone else to do it.

The head of the Central Hajj Committee, Prince Khaled al-Faisal, blamed the stampede on "some pilgrims from African nationalities," Saudi-owned al-Arabiya TV channel reported.

(09-26-2015, 02:22 AM)Hammerstar Wrote: But tramplings in the holy mosque is existent, but not this large of a scale. Particularly because the travelers are able to circle around the ka'bah in various stories, which in turn, makes more pathways.
People die every single year during Hajj pilgrimage and rites. Even if not at the thousands, I find this highly disturbing. The belief that dying while performing Hajj means a straight shot to heaven also contributes to this.

Isn't it from the 8th to 12th (or in some cases 13th) of Dhu al-Hijjah?

Nope, an entire month. My parents did so, and all other family members go to hajj for an entire month.

Well, you seem to know more about it than I. So I don't think I need to tell you about my religion anymore Rhino.

But I can say that the prince is quite false, because it is not "some pilgrims", it's almost all the pilgrims that went to Jumroh that day.

Nonono, please do tell more about it. It's just that I found it really amazing and did some research myself.

To quote Malcolm X about it:

"There were tens of thousands of pilgrims, from all over the world. They were of all colors, from blue-eyed blondes to black-skinned Africans. But we were all participating in the same ritual, displaying a spirit of unity and brotherhood that my experiences in America had led me to believe never could exist between the white and the non-white. America needs to understand Islam, because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem. You may be shocked by these words coming from me. But on this pilgrimage, what I have seen, and experienced, has forced me to rearrange much of my thought patterns previously held."

Islam. Intriguing.

Eliminating the race problem... Religion of Peace...

This religion is starting to interest me...I'll embark on research.

Be careful Ryccia. It always starts like that, but, next thing you know the NSA has you locked up illegally in a cold, cement cell, where you get tortured every day for information that doesn't exist in a small part of an Island 90 miles south of Key West, Florida.

Little place called Gitmo. Founded by a bunch of freaks who hate the Constitution.

As for my opinion on this, I think it was an accident, but, the Saudis need to be held accountable for their seemed ignorance during the Pilgrimage, especially since this has happened before.
