Bringing Sunshine Back to TSP

Yeah, we probably should have. We didn't, because that isn't the resolution you folks rushed through the Assembly, and now you're campaigning in favor of uncontested elections and trying to force people out of campaigns.

Too bad. I'm not sticking around to be treated like dirt and scapegoated because I don't agree with pushing for uncontested elections and electing people who voted against overturning a security threat designation despite clearly stating they don't believe the person is even a security threat. What a joke.

This is what I mean about being treated like dirt and scapegoated. I don't "squabble all day and do nothing." I spent days on a constitutional draft, then a few more days editing it to make it fit the Coalition, when I still wasn't even sure I would be admitted to citizenship and allowed to participate in the Great Council. I didn't have to do that, and now I wish I hadn't, because it was days of effort wasted on a draft that will never see the light of day.

I'm simply trying to say that the Region as a whole, on NS and these forums, is looking for things to change.
Everyone sees how the conversations are going on these forums. No one believes we can change, because all that has happened in the past week has been endless argument. Not just by you Cormac, by almost everyone involved in posting since the end of the coup.

Bel can still participate in all the assembly conversations at this time, he just simply cant vote.
Bringing his Security Designation to vote during this volatile time was probably a bad idea, and I think most of us see that now.
We should have waited to do it, or someone should have done it before all the sh*t hit the fan.
But we didn't, and now we all have to live with it until it can be voted on again by the assembly, or voted on by the cabinet.

If you want to take your proposal and go, that is your right.
I will ask here that you stay. I apologize if any of my posts have offended you, none of them are meant to.
We will need people with vocal opinions in the coming months.

I have done my best in all of this to remain neutral, and keep the regions interests above my own.
So far, I think that has worked out well.

Calm down Cormac, not everything is a fight to the death. You're overreacting and taking it out on the wrong people.

I don't understand why people are leaving and/or why this is no uncontested?

Cormac, it's my fault. I went with the draft we did because I thought I could appoint a Cabinet and didn't want to get bogged down fighting over Cabinet positions in the Assmebly. My bad.

If a Cabinet majority isn't elected to overturn the Bel's status, we can hold another vote. It *should* pass unless people start leaving the region.

I'm not leaving altogether, I'm just going to drastically reconsider how much I'm going to contribute to a community that holds democratic choice in contempt enough to prefer uncontested confirmation votes to competitive elections in three out of five Cabinet races. I will still be here to vote to overturn Belschaft's security threat designation, when and if it's made necessary by contempt for democracy and preference for uncontested Cabinet elections.

Cormac, I don't think anyone isn't supportive of choices. I realize we're having several uncontested elections, but I'm afraid that's just par for the course right now.

I'm certainly not happy that things have turned out as they have. But right now we have to play the cards weren't dealt.

As I said to Todd in another thread -- we're fixing it. You've been one of the most understanding of what we're trying to do and someone how has understood it just takes time. I'd just ask that you don't give up on us yet.

It would be easier not to give up if your running mate were not pushing for uncontested elections when there are people who want(ed) to run in two out of the three uncontested elections. That isn't necessary, at all, and I don't think we're going to get anywhere by discouraging democracy and encouraging TSP's already pretty severe oligarchical tendencies.

If there was concern about the Cabinet not having enough time to serve before the Great Council, that should have been fixed with an Assembly resolution extending the Cabinet's term. That could still be done. The fix should not be asking everyone to just vote for uncontested candidates -- one of whom has demonstrated a clear misunderstanding and misuse of a Cabinet power -- so we can get on with it. Especially when Belschaft's citizenship hangs in the balance.

Nonetheless, I'll wait and see.

Advocating to not vote RON isn't the same thing as arguing for uncontested elections. In fact, if you succeeded in getting people to vote for RON, we're both aware that you'd be the leading candidate (and likely only) in the next round of voting.

I'm not going to say we shouldn't vote for RON or having you co-opt RON as a vote for you (or anyone else) is a bad thing. It would extend our elections in an in-idealistic fashion, sure, but you are certainly entitled to go for it.

I'll add that it was my understanding that these terms would run until the end of the GC and another election would be held. I didn't imagine elections would be held before the conclusion of that. That, I need to look into and perhaps as for another Assembly vote.

After carefully reading this thread and considering your platform I would like to say that you both have my vote Smile.

I would also like to send you both my sympathy, as what is supposed to be an intelligent discussion about your campaign and your intentions as future VD and Del, has now degraded to an arguement about whether or not RoN is a moral thing to push for. I feel sorry for both of you, Tsu and DM.

I would like to implore all members posting on this forum to try and keep the talks civil, and to focus on the campaign presented, rather than petty things such as the moral reasonings behind pushing against an RoN, or a personal choice made by either of the candidates in this campaign, such as a poll they may have voted in.

I wish Both Tsu and DM luck in the elections, and success with their future goals in TSP Smile.
