[AT VOTE] Commend Benevolent Thomas |
Commend Benevolent Thomas
A resolution to recognize outstanding contribution by a nation or region.
Description: The Security Council, OBSERVING Benevolent Thomas as a prominent nation instrumental to the continuance of prevailing peace and goodwill throughout the world, having consistently championed and actively advanced such a cause for the past four years, with force whenever necessary; ACKNOWLEDGING Benevolent Thomas is also the same administration behind that of Rhine Ruhr: a nation that has held several positions within the government of European Union; APPLAUDING the efforts of Rhine Ruhr in bringing European Union an absolutely unparalleled increase in its Foreign Affairs outreach, as well as the growing acceptance of new nations into its folds; RECOGNIZING Benevolent Thomas's involvement in a number of prominent defender regions of high standing and holding positions within them — past and present — such as:
INDEBTED to Benevolent Thomas's instrumental role in the liberation, refounding and subsequent rebuilding of Australia and Hogwarts — despite being faced both times with formidable and often indomitable adversary — into vibrant and thriving communities, and incumbent service in the latter as Deputy Headmaster, controlling the nation of Benevolent aurors; FURTHER to Benevolent Thomas for their humanitarian work in repairing badly damaged relations between 10000 Islands and The Rejected Realms, which would not be possible had there been no intervention; LOOKING UP to Benevolent Thomas as a steadfast bulwark and irreplaceable keystone of peace in the world, which would not be the same were such an extraordinary force to be absent; Hereby Commends Benevolent Thomas.
Quite a provocative resolution! Right now, there are over 1800 votes against it, and only 51 in favor.
It looks like two regional delegates tried to vote it down early so that others would just vote against it thinking it would be unpopular. If it's not too late by the time Tsu votes, I'd like to see TSP do its part to balance the vote, so that it can be evaluated according to its merits by the rest of the WA. I think big delegates voting it down so early undermines the WA as a legislating institution.
Agreed. Once it's balanced I might consider again, but for now, I'm for.

In order to get the other side of the story, I'm going to ask the delegates why they voted against. I will re-vote if we actually reach the point where the vote is close. It doesn't seem likely if things continue to play out the way they are right now.
Update:
Votes For: 290 (10%) Votes Against: 2,597 (90%) Voting Ends: in 3 days 23 hours Amongst the South Pacific residents, voting is currently 5-1 (83% For). Your Regional WA Delegate, Tsunamy, has not voted on this resolution.
Unambiguously for based on merit.

To expand upon it: The vote against from TNP and Osiris is based purely on silly temporal politics and has nothing to do with the merits of the proposal and the individual, upon which a proposal should be judged.
