So, at last, A Drop in the Ocean has come to an end.  As my first interregional festival as Minister of Regional Affairs of the South Pacific, I’m reasonably pleased with how it’s progressed.  We have had a good number of responses to our writing competition, including some great poetry and a thoughtful insight into the beginnings of regional involvement (the winner will be announced later today, as will the winner of Meme This Fish!).  Our spam games have been one of the most active parts of the South Pacific forums, and Fish or Dish has provided enough nightmare fuel to keep us going until next Halloween.  There have also been some great games of Mafia and an in-depth discussion in the Aquarium between myself and the Minister of Culture of the North Pacific, Syrixia[nation] and their Deputy, [nation]Darcania.  We’ve filled the spam channel with spam (and more nightmare fuel thanks to combined diacritical marks) and had some great chat by the Poolside.  Most importantly, I think we’ve forged some fresh relationships between citizens of the North and South Pacifics.  Thank you for whatever part you’ve played in that, even if it was just to post a fish somewhere one time.

We didn’t achieve everything we’d hope for, of course.  The busy time of year meant that we didn’t quite manage any further discussions between government officials and our joint RP event still hasn’t launched, but, you know what?  I don’t mind that so much.  Who says these things have to happen during festivals anyway?  TNP and TSP have been allies for a long time and there’s no reason why we can’t continue these kinds of events long after the festival has been tidied away.  So here’s to future joint events, whether festivals, RPs or one-off discussion nights.  May the North-South Pacific Alliance last for many more years!
