[IC] ICPA Summit

Zoey Hannon said, "Hold on, I want to respond to several assertions made about our party. We do not support an unregulated free market. We never have. We just don't support a market that is so regulated that people are discouraged from starting their own businesses. That is the situation in Qvait and Winston Island."

David Hossane LeCroix, the leader of the Unø Lænd party, took his seat, along with the rest of his delegation. Unø Lænd was a powerful party in the Ryccian Federation, although elections would prove tough in May. Polls show that, as the electorate is more informed about the parties this time, they might vote for other parties, diminishing their seats from 200 to 60-100 in May.

He stood, and spoke:

"I concur with the honourable Zoey Hannon. Restrictions can be unbearable sometimes. My party is fortunately on the governing coalition in my country, so we can influence any burdensome and unnecessary regulations the Labour and Socialist Parties in Ryccia want. A coalition out of necessity, not of friendship"

"We must keep the private sector in check in a responsible and rational way. You can like the free market, and we do, but some regulations are necessary. Others are not, but the leftists in my country propose them anyway. We are lucky to keep them in the realm of sanity, somewhat anyway"

"May we ask the classifications of this organization for a free market that is considered to be too restricting?" Asked Sima Yi, "surely in any sort of trade, wether there are rules or not, would be discouraging to a group of citizens nevertheless."

Wilson Clarke and his delegation sat at the table, quietly. His tendency to listen instead of act was what many thought had lost him the 2017 Ausstani federal election. The Democrats had been expected to lose the very first Ausstani election against the immensely popular, centre-right Liberal party, run by the former king, now president, John Hills, but they won barely any seats in the house at all. His own vice-leader, Alex Dunn, didn't support his leadership anymore, having been a well known critic in the past. Clarke was only in the position due to his popularity among more centrist voters, who had been leaving the party in favour of the more left wing Labour and United parties, or even the radical-left Communist and Socialist parties. The Democrats were continually dropping in popularity. He really wasn't paying full attention to the meeting as he looked on, and, as per usual, remained quiet.

"Well I think that since most of us agree on the current topic we can move on now. So how do we want this alliance to look?" asked Rex.
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Wilson Clarke stood up, much to the surprise of his aides. Clarke had finally decided to react to the events around him, instead of relying on members of his party to do his talking for him.
"Hopefully not too restrictive. For example, this party is, by our own country's standards, centre, leaning to the left, but by most of your standards we have many right wing views. What I would like would is a simple platform for friendly debate between similar parties. Complete coordination of policies would be bad, but on some key issues it would be good to have shared beliefs. Many of us are representing parties that have long been neglected due to the strong ideologies of our nations. What we need is to bring our centrist views to the forefront of the average person's mind. We need to promote our shared views without making the alliance just an international political party."
Deep in his mind, Clarke was thinking that this would be the perfect time to reveal Ausstan's plight to the globe. The President was an old isolationist at heart, not understanding the trouble of the average Ausstani, despite what he told everyone, and his party was full of liars and corrupt MPs. The Liberal Party had so much of a hold on Ausstani politics, that the President may as well have kept his role as king. Ausstan needed him to make a big impact at this summit.

At this point, Sanki saw her moment and raised her voice.

"I think what we need to be asking is what is the purpose that we intend for this alliance? What can we each offer the other? How can we benefit each other in our own political spheres across Pacifica? What policies might we share? What distant, forgotten issues might we champion abroad? If we are not working together in this fashion, then I don't think there's any point in such an alliance and we might as well all go home. Do we want to go home?"

She let her gaze, like tempered steel still hot from the forge, sweep around the room.

"No?" she asked, "Then may I suggest we stop wasting time defining our alliance and instead plan how that alliance might help us."

Wilson Clarke stood once again. His aides were watching on, in absolute surprise. Some of them had never heard him say more than a word at a time before

"I agree, we need to act. Most organisation simply what they are going to do. We need to act on whatever we say we do. What I proposed earlier wasn't an occasional meeting resulting in no progress at all. What the Democrats want is autonomy and the ability to make their own decisions, but still have international allies we can rely on. No one on there right mind wants to go to a meeting where nothing is done. The only problem is that, with this many parties with very broad viewpoints, there will be a lot of areas where not all parties will agree."

Thomas spoke for the first time: "I would say the idea of this alliance would be a forum for those of us who have been successful to aid those who have not yet experienced success. I would also say that we need to be dedicated to haveing the governments controlled by centrists work with each other toward a better future."
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Translated by the translator, Vice Premier Zhao Wei stood up, and presented a discussed opinion of the Peocracy after secretly deliberating it with Reinhardt. She spoke in chunks, and her translator pulled out those words to the field.

'Your grace, we of the Peocracy truly respect the idea for a unity of centrists beyond borders to achieve a common goal to make this life a better place. However, what you just said honorable host, worries us, the method of "aiding those who have not yet experienced success" in taking a seat in power is by no other than providing various supports to influence the ballot." Explained Wei, "Correct me if I'm wrong, noble acquaintances, but are you saying that you'd like to impact the political processes of non-centrist led nations, political processes that we hold sacrosanct? Please elaborate."
