[IC] ICPA Summit
#1

Rex Kerry walks into the OCP National Committee Board Room. All of the other representatives have taken their seat. He walks around the table and shakes some hand and he personally thanks many of the representatives for attending. As he reaches his spot on the round table he collected himself.
Gavel banging "I now call this meeting to order. Welcome to Imperium everyone. I would like to give a few brief remarks before we begin. I invited all of you here so we may create an orgnization to help us cooperate, innovate and grow as parties. We are centrists and in some of your countries, you may be outcasts of a left/right political system. However, some of you may be the governing party. We all come from different places but it is my belief that we are the people willing to work across the aisle to make a better future for our nations. With that, I would like to open the floor for any comments or questions as to how we should create this organization."
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Her eyes had felt big as goldfish bowls, wide as avenues, bright as stars as she stared around at the smart clean lines of Imperium. Everywhere from the airport to this boardroom had seemed to gleam compared to the lingering quake-dust of Ciria. And everything screamed money. Money Erinor didn't quite have. Money Sereva certainly didn't. But she made sure she breathed evenly, kept her gaze steady. She was here for one reason and one reason only, and that purpose would never be served unless she made it clear that she was the equal of anyone in the room.

And so Syusa Sanki, leader of the Serevan nationalist Massa e Sereva party, marched into the boardroom and took her seat, barely looking back at Rami, her deputy. She held every gaze as she glanced around the table, then placed her hands calmly in front of her, and gave her attention to Kerry as he opened the meeting.

But she didn't speak first. It would not do to appear over-eager, nor to play her cards too soon. Instead, she gave a half smile and scanned the table to see who would answer Kerry's call.

Sabina Sonnenbergs, Vice Head of the SPG - known as the "wise woman" inside the party - made the first step.
"Maybe we should define first, what 'centrist' does mean for us. That it does mean, our political standpoint is most likely on the center on the political map isn't enough, I guess.
It's not precise enough, especially as we see here, as far as I know, a broad diversity of parties, that have still certain kinds of ideologies behind them, even though they see themselves centrist. For example our party sees itself centrist on the political scale, but why don't we get seats in the parliament most likely? Because people don't know or like our spiritual ideology behind our political centrist standpoints."

She concluded: "If we define 'centrist' now, everyone here knows, if he fits in the ICPA or should search or found an own organisation. Following that, we can go into further detail."

The Elector Primo responded "we have always though centrist parties were parties at the middle fo their own nation's political spectrum. Every nation's spectrum will be different however we think centrist parties are parties that include the center of their own spectrum. Does anyone object to that?"

Despite the stunning visuals of of the Federated States, the FR delegation had their heads in their computers and phones on the ride to the ICPA. Despite being the first to announce plans to attend, the current state of Resentine Politics kept things perpetually in motion. Even though they had prepared interim-officers to run things while they were at the conference, Reddiker, Liepa, and Žemaitienė would be making sure that the Republicans were on top of the wave of political action around Resentine.

With a now pseudo-rebellious Right Wing radicalizing under Biggot Ed Butte last election, it was up to the Party Leaders in the FR to ensure that this new wave would not rise up and consume their party from the inside. That is why they were here. With political allies abroad, the FR Leadership felt that they could strengthen their political standing in Resentine, and even if the Right continued to swell, they could solidify themselves as the Centrist Party of Resentine. Even though it was comparably small, the current Right shared many parallels with the rise of the Liberal Dems in the 90's and early 2000's, which caused the collapse of the former Socialist Party in Resentine. The FR leadership was determined not to share that fate.

They arrived at the OCP's Headquarters just behind the other delegations, watching them as they walked into the building. "Well, here we are", Reddiker stated, "Let's hope this does exactly what we need it to".

The FR delegation exited the car, and made their way into the building behind the other delegations.

Eiva Žemaitienė spoke up as they walked toward the OCP's National Committee Boardroom. She handed pieces of paper to both Reddiker and Liepa. "These are today's opening statements for all of us and a brief list of the Party's aims and goals for the Conference that we discussed before we left."

Aras Leipa spoke up, "You had the aides prep statements for us? You worried about us winging it too much as Parli-boys?"

Thomas interjected, "No, she did the right thing. We still don't know much about the people we're meeting with. It'd be a rookie mistake for us to walk in and improvise like we own the place. Thanks Eiva."

"Your welcome. Also, the Resentine Press wants a photo op with Rex Kerry at some point during the conference. They would obviously like it today, but it works best for us to do one tommorrow. During today's break, should I go talk to the OCP PR chief about it?"

"Yes, try and push it for tommorrow if you can. Preferably in the afternoon, so we're all well rested and have talked about the ICPA a bit." Reddiker saw the other delegations start going into the Committee Room. "Alright, let's get going, it's about to start." Eiva handed off a few last orders to the aides and the FR Delegation followed the others into the chamber.

After listening to the other delegates speak, Aras was nudged by Thom to speak first.

"Firstly, thank you to all the delegations for agreeing to meet together at this conference to discuss the creation of this international alliance of our parties. As the Vice-chair of the Resentine Federalist Republican Party, I am honored to be in the presence of so many like minded individuals. With that said, in regards to the definition of Centrism, we agree that the view on what a 'centrist' party is should be defined on a national level, at least for the duration of this initial conference. It is the opinion of the Federalist Republican Party that we will likely need more time to understand and learn from the combination of parties here before this conference attempts to define centrism on an international level."

Zoey Hannon, whose party only had the backing of 5% of voters in her country for the 2016 election, spoke up, "I won't lie to you, my party in Qvait and Winston Island isn't strong enough today, but I will tell you where we stand on the issues. We are social liberals who support the free market. However, we want to hold the private sector accountable and make sure that it is transparent. Our party is less than a year old. We were some of the Labor misfits, called the 'Centrist Caucus of the Labor Party.' We were basically playing along with the electoral system that was in place before the unification of Qvait and Winston Island. When the unification happened, the electoral system became less restrictive, which allowed us to found the Liberal Party. The Labor Party, in cahoots with the Greens, has driven our country to the left. We are increasingly worried about the economic freedoms that are being subverted by Chancellor Margaret Harrison, because she has made our country too socialist."

Hannon paused for moment, then continued, "I am here today for us to come together as centrists, but for us to do so, we all should embrace the free market and work not to have too much government intervention in the marketplace."

Daniel Eifrich intervened immeidately: "My full respect, Ms. Hannon, but I don't think that everyone would absolutely want this. I'm not talking about socialism or anything like that, but we in GI-Land are very fond of our social-market economy and this doesn't work in a completely free market. The government needs to make sometimes big regulations to prevent e.g. too high prices for medicine or to make sure, everyone gets their pension and so on.
A free market is good, but an absolutely free market or a state, that doesn't give regulations to the market, just ends in a society of winners and losers, that sooner or later fight against each other due to the unfairness of the system, while a social-market maybe can't prevent this absolutely, but can put the risk of things like this to happen to a minimum. This doesn't mean, I want to enforce social-market economy as the 'right centrist economic system', but I can't sit here listening to someone, who wants an absolutely free market without thinking about the risks and wanting us to enforce this thing into an international agreement."

"I agree with Mr. Eifrich," began Jean-Claude. "I do value the free market my country has but, I believe that due to the diverse nature of the parties gathered here we need to make sure we don't restrict the label of 'centirst'. Some nations may have their spectrum screwed right where one nation's centrist party would be another nation's right-leaning party. If we simply leave where if you claim the middle ground of your nation's political spectrum you can join the alliance, then I belive we will be able to remain an open and inclusive group."

This time Thomas stepped up, "While we do agree, there are certainly many positive values that come with free market economics, Resentine has also experienced the absolute worst of what can happen when you allow your corporations to run free without any consequences. I concur with my colleagues that now certainly may not be the best to define centrism by economics, though I do believe that the economic politics of centrism are fairly easy to identify."

"Come in."

The Peony's study came to view, and Sima Yi entered the room. A sharp man with his traditional linen shirt did not make voices as he walked the wooden floor, The Peony herself did not like people coming in with their shoes, especially in her study. The Peony then closed her clinical book, which was simply a facade for a comic book, stood up, and gave a light bow to her Premier, before sitting back down.

"Wassalamualaikum, please, be seated." Requested the Peony, Sima Yi took his seat, on the floor. The Peony did hate chairs and tall tables, and would rather sit on the floor with a low table infront of her.

"You wanted to see me?"

"Yes, Honorable Premier. I would like to talk to you about the recent summit, a centrist party alliance."

"What of it, my liege? Did we not decide that we do not belong in those silly spectrums?"

"Of course, these 'parties' and 'organizations', they divide a unity. However, knowing that these political parties have a say in their country and perhaps be involved in their process, I do not see much reason to not find out more." Said the Peony, "Honorable Premier, please find out more about these 'centrists' and see on wether an alliance with them could be beneficial for our people and the sake of an alliance with those countries."

"Yes, honorable Peony, I shall see to it that they are investigated."

"Thank you honorable Premier." The Peony placed her hand on her desk, signifying Sima Yi's dismissal.

"Your grace." Bowed Sima Yi, and he got out of The Peony's study.

Sima Yi sat himself down in that summit, he took several people with him. It may seem like a small delegation but the royal guardians are outside guarding the perimeter. The Peonic delegation could not speak much english, and had the royal translator standing behind the delegation.

Sima Yi's vice, Zhao Wei, was forty years younger than Sima Yi, and she took her notebook to scribble what was going on infront of them, it is imperative that they note on what was going on in the summit.

"What do you think of them so far? Honorable Premier?" Whispered Zhao Wei to Sima Yi.

"It is too early to call."

"I am not sure on where they are truly "centrist", they lean on some foundations that do not befit centrism."

"We need to observe."

Council Guest Reinhardt Friegemött however, was silent. He was seated next to Sima Yi, and was the emissary from Hohenzollern as well as a representative from the Knightisian Alliance. He merely took notes on the matter and would advise on the decision of the Peocracy favoring these "centrists" as well as subsequent effects to Alliances.
