[IC] Democracy Bloc
#1

Chancellor Margaret Harrison of the United Kingdom of Qvait and Winston Island has decided to launch a project to protect and defend liberal democracy in the South Pacific.

A supporter of liberal democracy is to be defined as a:
  • Supporter of fair and free elections
  • Supporter of separation of powers in government between coequal branches
  • Supporter of the rule of law
  • Supporter of human rights and freedom for all people
Chancellor Margaret Harrison said, "In the event that the World Forum comes into existence, the liberal democrats of the South Pacific need to unite against authoritarians and totalitarians who seek to bring tyranny to the region. I am inviting the liberal democrats of the South Pacific to join me in a meeting in Stockholm to bring about greater cooperation between our nations and form a united voting bloc in the World Forum if negotiations in Grovne are successful."

A letter was delivered to Chanallor Harrison that read
" Your excellency,
The Federation has long stood for the values of liberal democracy and we would love to participate in the creation of a liberal democratic block, however, due to our stated neutrality, we will only be able to participate as an observer. We are sorry we will not be able to contribute to the success of this bloc but we wish it well.
- Secretary of State Jean-Claude IX"
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

King Gianluca IV. and chancellor Harald Schmidt also directed a letter to Qvaitican chancellor Harrison, stating, GI-Land would want to be an observing member of the bloc too.
"Since our system is not a normal democracy and, except Gianluca would resign from his duties, could always be some kind of totalitarian, we don't seem to fit the requirements of such an organisation, even if our current politics are of the social-liberal kind.
Please consider us as observers nevertheless. We won't take part in discussions on how this organisation should work or what the full members should or should not agree to, but we would like to see, how this bloc develops and how we can maybe adjust our policies to become more liberal democrat from your points of view.

Sincerely,
King Gianluca IV.
Harald Schmidt, Chanellor of GI-Land"

Since the end of the Syarkho cadeo dictatorship nearly half a century ago, Erinor has cherished the freedoms of Liberal Democracy and would be proud to stand beside other nations that feel the same.  You may count on my support.

The Peocracy expresses that it would take a neutral stance and observe proceeding before deciding.

Phoenixea, a modern country with an advanced system of online lawmaking, usually isn't considered to be a "liberal democracy" - a role usually reserved for representative, parliamentary systems. However, the country's citizens overwhelming decided to join this grouping to promote free and fair democracy throughout the Region. Cool

Chancellor Margaret Harrison has decided to be more flexible to allow countries who respect the rule of law and human rights to join this bloc, not necessarily having to comply with the definition of liberal democracy.

With that said, King Gianluca and Chancellor Schmidt are at least ready to look, if they can partake in the discussion.

The Senate of Pax Dracon has agreed in a two-thirds majority vote to apply observer status before joining the bloc as a whole.  The Grand Minister himself said that this was a historic step for the Imperium in its quest for friends and allies abroad.
