Office of the Cabinet

In your State of the Region address, you said:

Quote:... The pending judicial appointment is being done through an open application process rather than a selection behind closed doors ...

Can you please disclose how many applications have been received thus far and provide an updated timeline as to when the Assembly can expect this nomination to be presented?

Thank you for the question.

Generally, our motto is to have this done sooner rather than later. I have had the dubious honor of being part of all judicial appointments since 2016, and the reason they've generally taken a long time is because we got caught up in the meta. We all agreed not to do that this time.

The timeline is rather dynamic. We have had three submissions so far. With my encouragement in the State of the Region address, we'll wait a few more days to see if somebody else decides to chip in. The Court is already working on providing its opinion, and we then want to take no longer than a week to actually decide on our pick.

Prime Minister @Roavin,

I would like to raise two matters with you.

(1) World Assembly affairs

In your campaign, you wrote:

Quote:... First, we can design and have somebody implement a piece of software that queries resolutions on NationStates that have reached quorum, and automatically create threads in our cobweb-riddled WA subforum. Second, we can then look at regulars in the General Assembly that happen to reside in the South Pacific, and encourage them to join our forum to debate and state their opinions on pending resolutions. With these steps, a WA-conscious subcommunity will form over time. This is a great example of how we can use collaborative projects to set things into motion that, once rolling, will keep rolling on their own ...

What is the status of this idea? Do we have somebody currently working on the software mentioned in your campaign?

(2) Cabinet management

Quote:... Unlike my previous Cabinets, we’ll have a larger selection of individuals participating in it. I intend to appoint 1-2 senior advisors to the Cabinet to help guide us Ministers in our decision making. Furthermore, each Ministry receives one internship slot to foster a new generation of great Cabinet ministers.

I vaguely recall you mentioning your plans for this somewhere but I am unable to find it at the moment.

Given that it has been two weeks since the Cabinet officially took office, will ministers be recruiting interns soon or is this promise more of a long term idea?

Hi Amerion, thank you for the questions as always.

Regarding the WA development, I have a few notes after reviewing what's possible with the current API, I just need to put them into prose and then post the community project for it.

Regarding interns and advisors, you may remember the post I had made in the Cabinet Office during the transition, when you were still masked as advisor. RA and probably FA should be appointing interns soon, MA may take a while longer. We are discussing advisors as well.

@Amerion ...

For clarification BAT is Beepeean Actual Time.

BAT Is the unofficial timezone of the RMB... (there is law and everything that goes with it)...

Because Roavin held his chat on 10th March AEST but 9th March in other locations around the world, our pendants in RMB will often criticise me for being so far ahead of the times and using AEST dates. (hence the use of BAT).

Hope this helps clear things up?... (and no I'm not ever using UTC!)
