3rd APC Party Summit Charter Discussion- 2017
#11

Also, @Pronoun I just saw your charter, it looks good!

and @rolandarmstrong the reason why we have the -2 is to subtract the chair and vice chair from the mix, since they aren't eligible to run for a general member spot. But I see what you mean!

We could define the committees. I believe that these committees have a good use, and will help activity to grow.

First, I would like to reduce the stress on the recruitment committee as I think that recruiting everyone will not work. Instead, we should try to hold events (To be done by the regional committee). Also, the policy committee can devise rules and laws, as well as interpreting the charter when needed.

I wish I could elaborate more, but a later time I guess.

Also, I personally prefer Griffindor's charter. Pronoun's is ok, but it needs significant editing, in my opinion.

I hope I made it pretty clear my charter was a complete mess; if I didn't, I'll do it now. My proposed charter bears little significance to me, and Griffindor is honestly probably a much better writer, but I hope the ideas expressed in my proposal live on.

@Spenty I personally think the recruiting committee's role should be shifted drastically. While recruitment is good, I think the recruitment committee should really be focused on pretty much everything about new members or possible members. This might sound like a lot of work, but I think of it more as a shift of work. An example of this would be the orientation role Drall proposed.

Yes, recruiting everyone will not work. It will never work. But we don't necessarily want hegemony, because, firstly, that's not as fun, and, secondly, it makes us too comfy and reduces long-term party longevity. I'm glad Seraph started the SPP, not because I don't like this party (please don't interpret these comments that way) but because it helped us realize that we need, and provided an impetus for, party reform, something I think we all agree is quite necessary.

@Griffindor13 I'm not sure our party has much presence on the gameside, since we require all our members to be Legislators, a strictly forumside position. Legislatorship has nothing to do with anything gameside, unless the Legislator chooses to participate there.

Second, I believe giving the Platform legal significance is important. Yes, the Charter should hold some authority as a declaration of party beliefs and ideology, but that is more the responsibility of the Platform; the Charter's larger role is to provide structure and function to the party, and, frankly, not much else.

Also, the formatting on the charter really bugs me.

Just to make it clear, those suggestions by "Esfalsa Public Office" are me. I didn't want to have too many Google accounts, so I just reused one.

@Pronoun I see what you are saying, though my idea for the game side APC is that its completely separate from the forum side APC, the only thing linking them is the fact that the chair and vice chair head both.. you can be a random nation in the game side, but to be forum side, you need legislator status. Legislator status is only needed for the forum side.

No worries.

Apparently I skipped over your proposed formula for calculating the number of APCRC members (I promise, the irony is a coincidence!). My personal opinion is that we don't need a larger APCRC. If I'm not mistaken, our current APCRC is composed of six members, while total party membership is only 16—over a third of all party members are APCRC members. The APCRC role is one I consider mostly administrative, since almost all party decisions are made by all members, and so I do not think more members are necessary.
Alternatively, we could move elections to a 6-month cycle.

Ah, I see. Noting I remain neutral in opinion, I'd just like to note I'm not sure how the division of responsibilities will work out—as implied by your use of the phrase "random nation"—would work out. The Coalition, which is basically why our party exists, is pretty much a forumside government. The Delegate, aside from WA votes, is pretty much a figurehead that works with other gameside officials to promote fun and games. Frankly, I'm not entirely sure if the gameside is relevant to the preservation of the Coalition. But I think, with some revision, I can still see this working.

I this brings up an interesting point. Do we want to find a new direction as a party?

Only one thing I can add to the new charter, All mentions of '[blank] chair' sense it is a noun, should be capitalised EG: ' Vice Chair'.

It is a title, and should have capital letters.
