[DRAFT] Gameside Act
#31

(01-20-2018, 07:40 PM)North Prarie Wrote: I will use Delegate elections as an example. A RMBer has to go forumside. A forumsider does not have to go gameside. There are many things that show that people actually think that the forums are superior, and the purpose is to make those equal.

The forums are more secure and under the region's control, thereby making them more reactive to the community. We're limited by a slew of factors on the RMB, notably the affordances NS proper grants us as an Game Created Region.

That does't make on superior, per se, but one mode of communication better suited to our needs.

Someone else said this, but TSP has been at the forefront of granting more authority and representation to the RMB. The current delegate-election system and the introduction of the Local Council were both done in response to the new affordances provided by NationStates. I imagine when other large scale updates, we might revisit to see how we can adjust again.

Listen. The purpose of this act was not to force forumsiders onto the RMB, it was to make government officials more seen to 90% of the activity on TSP. Many nations see the names on the WFE, but never see them on the RMB. If these ministers and the CRS can talk to the citizens of the South Pacific, they can know what we want. If they are still not active, we will see them at the ballot box.

Thank you for posting this topic. I do think our government does have a responsibility gameside in general, but I'm pretty happy with what I've seen from them so far.

I am firmly against quotas and "required" activity, I'm already concerned with the amount of bureaucratic roles and responsibilities we have already.

If we have an open democracy and people are unhappy with how, what or where our government is doing - we have a ballot where they can vote for someone else or they can even run a campaign against someone for not spending enough time gameside.

I think we all understand what you're trying to do here and why. But the forum government, at the end of the day, isn't the body responsible for giving RMBers what they want. That's the Local Council. If RMBers want a direct say in who sits on the Cabinet, who becomes a CRS member, etc., then they can and should join the forums, because those are all positions that work best through the forums and address issues that mostly impact the forum community itself.

I'm going to echo what Glen said and I think we all see your point. And, many support the sentiment of having a more active leadership, just not forcing activity requirements.

All said, though, can we dial back the rhetoric a bit? I for one don't appreciate the threatening tone.

Sorry bout that. I am starting a campaign trying to elect more gamesiders into cabinet positions. I was upset that no one likes it. I get to riled up about these things................

If the goal here is more visible interaction between the forum Cabinet and the RMB, we could ask the Cabinet to hold Q&As on the RMB on a regular basis. Like a Cabinet AMA. That would address an issue of visibility and also not fall into the problem of forcing people to become interested in the kind of social talk the RMB does most of the time.

That's a smart idea to increase activity in RMB and other gameside things.

Yeah, that could be a good compromise.
