I'm considering coining the term tikipunk.... (at the moment I think it's only a niche genre of music...)

Well, I guess we'd better hammer out the basic details so we can rock on. I really like the idea of the main or starter setting being like a Polynesian Atlantis, so true to a kind of Polynesian culture, but advanced past the more traditional colonial cultures, just so we're subverting the usual noble savage tropes, etc. I also found a nice source for a conflict in this 'Atlantis' based on the history of Rapa Nui (Easter Island), which had two different prevailing religions (consecutively) and these could be the basis for a religious factional divide. Because, where there's conflict, there's drama!

So, I'm thinking of just winging this: no map, no grand plan, not much of anything to go on at all, which is probably a disastrous idea, but since I just don't have it in me right now to do any of the above, it might be the only way this happens.

What I will do is provide some resources and things I've read up on which may inform the setting a little:

A Polynesian dictionary - combines words from several Polynesian languages, but I think that'll suit our purposes just fine.

The mythology of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) - a very bare bones Wikipedia article, but the Moai and the Tangata Manu are going to be important in the setting.

I'll still leave it a bit before starting. I want to come up with a few names and concepts, some kind of initial intrigue, maybe? So, I'm very much still open to suggestions and further resources.
