Thanks for these questions. I plan to answer them but because of the constant vitriol being targeted towards me, need a bit of a break.

For the record, I did not request you to leave, and you are very welcome to come back to the Ministry of Regional Affairs.

In fact, I still suggest you do that because you've changed the rules from what has been acceptable over the past one and half years.

For the record, you don't own the embassy thread, and neither does Resentine or any future MoFA. That's why it's posted with the TSP Foreign Office nation, a nation I created during my tenure to provide continuity between ministers.
(07-07-2018, 12:57 PM)Escade Wrote: Over a month ago I sent 120 TGs asking people to unendorse me and because I couldn't get them to do so in a short time span, resigned from the WA to assuage the CRS's fears. I am willing to post my application and those screen caps.

This is not the full story. On May 25, the CRS contacted you to let you know were over the endorsement guidelines, and that you should avoid endotarting for a while and try to get your endorsement level down. You replied the next day by applying for a position on the CRS. However, you didn't meet the base requirements and were told that it would take you 3 months sitting at the cap to gain enough influence to apply. In your response to that, you said you weren't aware of those requirements and that the CRS should waive them for you regardless, because of your service to the region. That wasn't a thing the CRS could do, even if we wanted to, so we informed you a day later that your application was rejected for failing to meet the constitutional requirements. We asked again for you to run an endorsement campaign to get your endorsements lower.

That situation lasted for about a week, with you still hovering around 80 endorsements over the cap. So the CRS, per standard policy, asked you to resign from the World Assembly for an update within 48 hours, otherwise we would have to take Border Control actions. Your reply was... saying we should create a special emeritus role so that you could stay above the cap. Two days later, and you were still above the cap. You told the CRS that you weren't going to do any more than you had already done, so we should ban you if we were that concerned. Then you said we were threatening you and should cease communications.

It took you another two days to finally resign from the WA, and you notified us with a flippant remark.

That was an unprecedented situation. The CRS had never given that kind of latitude to somebody knowingly breaking the cap and not complying to CRS requests. You got special treatment because you were a Cabinet member at the time, and we didn't believe it would appropriate to banject a Cabinet member who we didn't think was about to coup. Your response to getting that special treatment was saying we were threatening you and treating you disrespectfully, for trying to enforce a cap that everybody has to obey.

Nobody is trying to run you out TSP, Escade. But a lot of people are getting exasperated with the half-truths. Plenty of TSPers have gotten into spats with each other, big spats that might better be described as civil wars, and are still here today. While some would prefer it if Somyrion, Roavin, Farengeto, and myself didn't bring any of this up, ignoring everything and pretending like it didn't happen is literally the ostrich putting its head in the sand. Just be honest, stop telling half-truths, accept responsibility, and chill a bit.

Hi! Updating this campaign with Q&As from the Conference Hall!

Thanks to Ian for hosting and to my fellow candidates for a civil debate! Check out the #conference-hall channel in TSP Discord to see a nice discussion!

1. How do you propose we get more WA involvement?

I think one way is def. the WA endorsement project that Vietnam is spearheading, in tandem with TNP. To get activity you need hype and incentives and offering rewards to gamesiders for supporting the region with their WA. I'm really good at hype and generating activity through competitions and games and events. So 1. Vietnam endorsement project hype and 2. Something that I did as delegate prior, which is TGing nations individually and letting them know why it's important as well as having clear directions on how to WA up and what benefits it brings.

2. From your campaign, what Is the most important project you want to work on?

I think promoting game side activities, because for example our gamesiders Auphelia and several others composed these cool musicals (and another region actually ran an article on them) while we didn't really do anything. So highlighting gamesider contributions and activities both on the gameside and on the forumside. I think that also helps maybe gamesiders see themselves reflect on the forumside.

3. What do you think the role of the delegate is in cooperation with gameside and forumside and particularly the cabinet? What would you be doing for example?

In my view, the last three delegates have realistically been involved with cabinet affairs in often very tangential ways or not at all unless asked or by being appointed adviser. I appointed Tsu and DM as advisers when I was Minister and consulted them for various things but I would only expect ministers to do that of people they felt comfortable with.

4. What role should the delegate take in regards to working with the LC?

I think that's a critical relationship. The delegate should be able to communicate with the LC members but also resolve some issues with them. We've seen this term that the LC sometimes interprets the same rules differently and needed maybe to communicate better within themselves and with some of the gamesiders to make sure there aren't major issues or things that turn away newer players. Then I think talking to LC, asking them what they need and what the want to see more. Working with them on projects or goals

5. Do you feel your activity has been sufficient over the past few months prior to the delgate campaign?

I'm generally active on the gameside for a variety of purposes, so yes. I'm also active beyond the RMB itself in keeping up casual and social TGs with active people on the gameside.

6. How do the candidates feel about the Biscuit Republic of Warzone Australia?
Are there chocolate biscuits?
Or the ones with the strawberry filling?
*takes a bite*

7. What sort of RMB activity do you deem sufficient?

I think it's different when you're a delegate because you aren't just chatting (although that's fun too) but also sometimes guiding things or detouring things. Recently we had two RMB incidents. One is that NHC\Techolandia and Auphelia fight that seemed to get larger and larger and needed intervention. I did talk to all three people in the hope of toning it down a bit. Then there is also just the seeing something terrible and reporting it part. A nation started talking about how rape victims should feel guilty for getting raped and I reported that to the mods. So there's the social aspect, the like seeing what people are up to and sometimes TGin them, and also the more guiding part of it.

8. What would you say are your three biggest weaknesses?
1. Intensity - I can be pretty intense when I'm deeply invested in something and I demand a lot from myself as well as others 2. Non-political minded - I'm not sure how to explain this but I don't have a political background and don't follow politics with any passion in the real world either so my game is often influenced by my interests and social stuff instead of the way politics work (therefore things considered unprofessional like "GIFs" or "music" and 3. Stubborn - I can be pretty stubborn and in the face of hostility etc am more likely to be stubborn vs like in the face of water

9. What is one thing you have admired about the other candidates?

I'm going to be honest here (but nice, because what did you expect Tounge) Tsu is my favorite candidate (who isn't here bc of RL) because he is a genuinely good person who always tries to make as many people happy as possible. Tim has been great to work with for the past year because he's so capable and has such great ideas as well as the follow through on them. I love people who I can learn from. Rebel is great because he's a long standing TSPer who balances the boring parts of things with his own fun personality and is trustworthy and honest.
I don't know the other candidates as well to really speak to them in depth but I think it takes courage to run especially when you're new so that is pretty nice.

10. What is one thing you’ll do different then previous delegates?
I think delegates in TSP, at least the past three, have done pretty well depending on their interests and the way they ran or their platform. They kept the region secure which is a key part of the job. I do think that trying to build connections between gameside and Discord and forumside so they're less separated from each other would be helpful. And keeping things more informed on the gameside which we've had trouble with in general across the government (what is happening and when).

11. What is your favorite aspect of TSP

The community itself - its like an interesting mixture of people from all over the world. And some of them become friends. Like I've had conversations with TSPers that lasted late into the night on so many different topics and I've also met people who I would never get to know if I hadn't been playing this game. I also learn a lot of things from TSPers from using Google sheets to like Mongolia being a real place to awesome new music and things. So all of that.

12. What do you feel is the biggest issue in TSP?
Probably that we don't have an external enemy to really deal with so there's been purposeless infighting instead. Most likely we should declare war on an imperialist region.

~ Make a final statement ~
I think I'll share my campaign dispatch (and add in questions and answers from here later when I can) https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1055474 I've loved this region for now five years (started April 2013) and that's longer than like a lot or most other things in my life I wouldn't be running if I didn't think I would do a great job. Good luck to all the candidates!

What have you done in TSP during the six months you were here?

(I was on hiatus for at least 6 months, so i missed out on it

You don't need to list everything, just some bullet points about your history here, tasks you worked hard on and which parts, who you worked with/hired, etc
Helps for players who don't want to hunt down everything from past old threads.)

Hey, so when I came back I jumped in as Minister of Foreign Affairs (2 terms), then Minister of Military Affairs (1 term) and then Minister of Regional Affairs (1 term) and worked on:
- Treaty with Conch Kingdom and a treaty with UDS
- CULT event with allies TRR and Lazarus
- Game of Thrones event with NPO to build relations
- Have talked to and communicated with countless allies and friends and maintained relations
- Worked on relations with XKI with the HP event
- Was a commander during the last N day event for TSP (staying up all night almost) to help our region get to second place and also to make sure we didn't betray our allies in the fight
- Worked on hosting the Defender Expo and improveing our connections and reputation
- Worked on hosting the second Inter-regional Olympics and improving our connections and reputation
- Published and edition of the Southern Journal
- Hosted the Lord of the Rings festival with TRR and NPO
- Helped establish a party region reputation using the embassy and other venues
- The recently concluded festival had a host thank me and Ian for use of our documents, things we co-created for LoTR
- Oh and I wrote Mermaid Tales for the SPSF as MoMA as well as hosted a flag\motto redesign competition
- There are probably some other small things I'm forgetting ^.^

I didn't want to post again in this thread, but it's been nagging me.

First, on the Delegate's interaction with the Cabinet, just off the top of my head, I can think of coordination on SC votes, coordination on regional TGs (this is the Delegate's purview, even if Seraph took a mostly laissez-faire approach to it), coordination on WFE changes, and miscellaneous other stuff. For example, we had Seraph review and sign the Peacekeeper Agreement because we were workign with regions working under an assumption of Delegacy Supremacy. What's most fascinating about this is that when Seraph was elected, we (Cabinet+CRS at the time) all decided together to include the Delegate in the JSR, yourself included.

Now you can answer Somy's question.

(07-06-2018, 07:18 PM)Escade Wrote: Hilariously, both Glenn and Roavin have stated I would be a great delegate even quite recently

Yes. I meant that sincerely. Going by just the job, I think you're miles ahead of any other candidate running.

I asked Somy a question that he refused to answer because he doesn't have a clear answer. How did the delegate work with the cabinet in the last term that impacted him as MoMA? What did the delegate do specifically?

From my personal experience in the JSR and the cabinet for over a year, the past three delegates have minimally worked with the cabinet - really in no way that is significant (as in they do not dictate what anyone in the cabinet does, merely chime in once in a while with the CRS). I've never been asked about or informed about any WA proposals by the delegate (nor told why they were voting a certain way or not). Tsu is the only one who I think posted publicly and asked questions but he's the only one who regularly did so.    WFE changes, such as flags and colors, have been also quite minimal and not dependent on the cabinet.  The delegate was separated completely from the cabinet for a reason - it has no executive powers.  Each minister has RO powers that they've used to do things. DM, as delegate, asked us to ask him before sending out TGs but that hasn't been followed since then.

If the cabinet deems to ask the delegate for advice, that is their prerogative but I already stated that in a previous answer.

I'm not asking a question about delegate interaction with the MoMA. I'm asking this question as a concerned citizen, about how you plan to work with people you have repeatedly refused to work with in the past. Nothing to do with MoMA. Your conclusion seems to be that the delegates in the past have not interacted much, and if you're not going to work much with the cabinet either, that's a perfectly acceptable answer. Just say it straight out instead of trying to deflect anything and everything.
