The minister or any of their authorized subordinates will occasionally publish press releases in this thread for public consumption pertaining to the ratification of new treaties, the opening or closure of embassies, or any other matter that the ministry deems to be of interest.

Seeking Deputy Ministers!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is seeking some active, energetic, and driven TSPers to serve as Deputy Ministers. The job of a deputy is to take ownership of specific aspects of managing TSP's foreign affairs program. Deputies serve as junior members of the Cabinet and play a direct role in managing the Ministry.

Currently, we are seeking to fill the following positions:

• Deputy of Diplomatic Affairs
  The Deputy of Diplomatic Affairs is primarily responsible for hiring ambassadors to staff all of our embassies, and helping them deliver timely and useful updates. This deputy will manage all aspects of our Diplomatic Corps, including ambassadorial assignments and the dissemination of updates and announcements from the Ministry and the Cabinet. If you're organized and good at corraling others, this would be a good position for you!
  
  
  
• Deputy of Interregional Affairs
  The Deputy of Interregional Affairs aids the Minister of Foreign Affairs with diplomatic and political negotiations & interactions with other regions. In this role, the deputy will help draft programs, proposals, treaties, agreements, and other legal documents during the course of negotiations with our regional partners. If you enjoy writing laws and have an interest in learning the strategic aspects of foreign affairs, this position is for you.
  

How to Apply

There is no form to fill out! Please send a telegram, private message, or Discord DM to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sandaoguo (the one posting this!) with the position you are interested in. Please explain why you think you would be a good fit, what experience you have (though extensive experience is not necessary), and how you see yourself fitting in the role. The Ministry is looking for applicants who show drive, so we're not looking for a robotic fill-in-the-blank application. Your application should reflect your best qualities, but please don't think it needs to be a 10 paragraph essay.

I look forward to bringing on board the first deputy ministers TSP has had in a long time! Even if you aren't selected as a deputy, if you apply we will find a spot for you in the ministry!

Announcement of New Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs   Fellow Assembly Legislators and Citizens, It is with great pleasure that I announce, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cabinet, the following appointees as Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Amerion, as Deputy Minister for Diplomatic Affairs. Amerion has shown great organizational and managerial skills throughout his service in the Coalition's government. He currently serves as an advisor to the Cabinet. In his role as Deputy Minister, he will manage all aspects of our diplomatic corps under supervision of the Minister. Ryccia, as Deputy Minister for Interregional Affairs. Ryccia has demonstrated a strong desire to work within the Ministry and submitted an impressive application that surprised the Minister in its professionalism and detail. Ryccia has foreign affairs experience as Deputy Minister in Lazarus's foreign affairs ministry. To those who applied but were not selected, the Ministry thanks you for expressing a desire to help. APPLICATIONS FOR CORE STAFF Good afternoon, As I laid out in my campaign I will be hiring four core staffers into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Those staffers will be as follows: Three at large ambassadors to have their own portfolios to manage relations with and keep tabs on. They may hire additional staff if merited.  A communications director who will help write talking points for the Ministry and play a key role in drafting any statements that will be released by the Ministry. All staff will be expected to write on a regular basis in some publications about foreign affairs news or opinions. Applicants should not expect to be contacted by the Ministry one way or another, but all staff will be announced publically. Even if you don't have any experince please apply and if you don't get one of the four core positions, note that these applications will be used to hire additional staff as need be.  The application may be found here, and applications are due in 96 hours. APPLICATIONS FOR STAFF Good afternoon,   As I laid out in my campaign I will be hiring two different types of staff into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Those roles will be as follows: Ambassadors: Each Ambassador will be assigned to one (maybe two) region(s) and will be the boots on the ground for the Ministry. They will be expected to relay news about TSP to their region(s), attend festivals and events in their region(s) and keep their Secretary of State updated about developments within their region(s). Secretaries of State: There will only be four of them and will be the senior staff of the Ministry. These staff members will oversee a group of ambassadors to a group of regions. They will also attend events in those regions and help me to keep track of what is going on in those areas of the game. They will also alert me to any developing or major events in the regions they oversee All staff will be encouraged to write on a regular basis in some publications about foreign affairs news or opinions. I will personally contact you if you apply so that I understand everything you are trying to get from this experience and to help you hit the ground running. Even if you don't have any experience please apply and if you don't get one of the four Secretary fo State positions, you will still be considered for an Ambassador role.    The application may be found here. PRESS RELEASE     PASSAGE OF PAX POUKAI 25 Febuary 2020 Fellow South Pacificans, LazCorp and The Coalition of the South Pacific have recently entered into a nonaggression contract, entitled Pax Poukai, with one another. This pact codifies the unwritten contract of mutual respect both regions have been upholding for each other for some time. Pax Poukai solidifies both regions’ commitment to respecting and developing native rule, and to fostering a healthy culture between one another. The agreement passed through both regions’ legislatures with relative ease and is seen as a signal of a prosperous relationship to come. Both regions intend to strengthen their ties to one another through this agreement, which is a continuation of a long-standing relationship. PRESS RELEASE     APPOINTMENT OF SECRETARIES OF STATE 8 April 2020 Fellow South Pacificans, When I sought re-election for this term I laid out an ambitious campaign, a key part of which was a restructuring of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide a system I believe can last well beyond my time in this office. The restructuring was aimed at fixing some of the problems we saw organizationally the last term as well as improving upon the traditional model of Foreign Affairs. The key to that change is our Secretaries of State who act as a conduit between the Ambassador Corps and the Office of the Minister. Today, I am pleased to announce that the Ministery appointed all four of our Secretaries of State on April 3rd and since appointment they have been hard at work. I have been beyond impressed with all of Secretaires thus far and would like to take this opportunity to introduce who will be serving the Ministry as we represent TSP. Griffindor, a former FA official abroad, is our Secretary for 10000 Islands, Europe, Europeia, and Forest. Prarie, a long time FA staffer in TSP, is our Secretary for Balder, Osiris, the Pacific, and the West Pacific. Qaz, our FA cabinet intern, is our Secretary for Lazarus, the East Pacific, the North Pacific, and the Rejected Realms. Seraph, our former Prime Minister and Delegate, is our Secretary for Conch Kingdom, Spiritus, Thalassia, and the Union of Democratic States. PRESS RELEASE     TSP AND OSIRIS JOINT STATEMENT 25 May 2020 Friends and Neighbors, Osiris and the South Pacific have a storied past and in recent years have found themselves on the opposing sides of many conflicts in NationStates. The current government of the Coalition and the Fraternal Order are diametrically opposed on the gameplay battlefield as in each region are some of the most impassioned advocates for Raiding and Defending. For a time, all members of the Coalition were barred from any participation within Osiris thanks to a proscription enacted by the Fraternal Order. Nevertheless, since the lifting of the proscription both regions have committed to sending formal envoys to one another who have done an exceptional job in restarting relations. At this time, the Coalition government and the Fraternal Order believe it to be time to fully normalize our relations and establish clear lines of communication. It is likely we will end up in conflict with one another yet again, after all, we are both leaders in opposing factions. In spite of that, we want to ensure when conflict does arise communication channels are open for both of us.  That is why the Coalition and Fraternal Order are committing to two things: We will maintain embassies with one another in peacetime We will maintain ambassadors with one another in peacetime It is our hope to maintain these vehicles for communication and that members of Osiris and the South Pacific will have continued opportunities to engage with one another.  Faithfully yours, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Omega Vizer of Foreign Affairs, Ark
