As is tradition, my wife goes all out for Christmas Eve and works to craft the best possible "professional 5-star dinner" she can. This year did not disappoint.
First, we started with a delicious creamy tomato soup. The main dish was roast beef, potato croquettes, caramelized shallots, and a wine-based sauce. The shallots weren't my thing, to be honest, but the roast beef was incredibly good (which might be in part because this was a piece of dry salted angus beef that costs 54 bloody euros per kilogram). The sauce was great too; despite being made of what felt like 90% wine it didn't taste that wine-like, rather it had a pleasant fruity flavor that complimented both the roast beef and the croquettes very well. Finally, our dessert consisted of vanilla parfait, hot berries, and fudge cake. She made the parfait herself, and it was great. The combination of the three was taste bud heaven. I'm absolutely stuffed. |
