The South Pacific Fantasy Football League
#1

The 2014 National Football League (NFL) season kicks off on 4 September, but I'm starting a TSP Fantasy Football league. I've played fantasy football for the last three seasons, and I've been the league manager of a twelve man league for two. Fantasy football is a lot of fun, and it gives you a stake in games that you wouldn't otherwise watch. If you're looking for a hobby other than NationStates for the last four months of the year, I'll be hosting one.

The 2014 NFL Draft is complete, and training camp is underway, which gets me excited. However, fantasy football is exciting for rookies and veterans alike.

If the league isn't full by the end of August, I'll likely open it up to other regions. The league will participate in a 'snake' draft, the draft order reverses each round, which is good for beginners. The draft will take place sometime between Friday, 29 August and Wednesday, 3 September, between the end of the last preseason game and the beginning of the first regular season game. The draft itself will be hosted on the forums or on ESPN.com.

The league can have up to twenty people, but, in my experience, you need ten to twelve people for a good league. For those of you with experience in fantasy sports, we'll be using waivers as the player acquisition system.

If you're interested, PM me your e-mail address, and I'll send you an invite, which will prompt you to register, if you haven't already.

Posts outside High Court venues should be taken as those of any other legislator.
I do not participate in the regional server, but I am happy to talk through instant messaging or on the forum.

NOTE: This is American Football, the disgrace to the world but awesome to Americans.

"Fantasy football is an interactive online competition in which users compete against each other as general managers of virtual "fantasy" teams built from "drafting" real players. The players that an individual is able to manage are professional American football players in the National Football League. The different actions people are able to make are drafting, trading, adding or dropping players, and changing rosters every week. Due to the growth of the internet, fantasy football has vastly increased in popularity, particularly because fantasy football providers such as ESPN Fantasy Sports, CBS, Yahoo! Fantasy Sports, and the NFL itself are able to keep track of statistics entirely online, eliminating the need to check box scores in newspapers regularly to keep track of players, which is how fantasy football players first had to keep track of stats. Most leagues have a 13 week season, a small playoff bracket, and a single week championship in week 16 of the NFL season. "

When will we determine the date/time of the draft? Also, when will we find out our draft position?

I plan on sendin' all the participants a e-mail/PM/TG/IM/Query in the next week to determine what times and dates work for the majority, and I'll I can either randomize the draft order at draft time or do it beforehand.

I'm interested, but I'm not too familiar with all of the rules of the NFL, is there anywhere I can brush up on them?

The rules of the NFL aren't of particular importance to fantasy football, but the scoring rules are, which are easily accessible on the site.
