Condemnation of Eareamland
#1

Statement by Ambassador Noor Aqaba of The Kingdom of Izaakia

Delegates of the World Forum, today we saw King James of Eareamland illegally declare war on Absolutan, and I believe this to be illegal in international law. Firstly, I believe we must question their version of the truth, the so called attack on an eareamian airship, Mx Speaker, I ask you, what was an eareamian airship doing within the airspace of a conflict if not attempting to provoke a conflict? If you stick your hand in a blender you must expect to be hurt. We believe this event to be a false pretence for a declaration of war. Then we must examine the declaration of war, a war declared by an unelected leader with no democratic mandate, against a nation over 5000km away, and a war declared without raising a motion at the WF or seeking international consent. Further more this is part of a significant trend of reckless international actions by the state of eareamland, and given that both sides have nuclear weapons a risk that could affect us all, either with a nuclear holocaust or if this eareamian induced leads to an instability that allows terrorists to acquire nuclear weapons. This is a violation of international law, and one that I believe as the World Forum we are obliged to act and quickly, before it is too late. It would be irresponsible not to punish this violation of our founding principles. One of the founding principles of the world forum, and in section A of our charter, is the obligation of this assembly to maintain peace, order and stability in the world. This has clearly been put at risk by eareamian actions and we must act as such.

Quote:"1. The purpose of the World Forum shall be to maintain peace, order, and stability in the world. The member states of the World Forum shall take collective action to ensure that all threats to the peace, order, or stability among them are suppressed.
(...)
3. The purpose of the World Forum shall be to create an era of peace (...) for all"

I know this forum has been slow to react in the past, however, this is a crime which cannot go unpunished. A crime so heinous it threatens to undermine the very collective values that underpin international relations and the very foundations of this forum, and ultimately we must punish the Eareamian government to the full extent of our power.

For these reasons, I commend to the forum the following motions;

1) Suspend the world forum member status of Eareamland until such a time as their government has made significant steps towards recognising international law.

2) Bring charges in the international courts against the government of Eareamland on the basis of an illegal declaration of war under false pretences.

3) international economic sanctions against the government and state of Eareamland. Punishing those states who ignore the sanctions.

4) An international WF peacekeeping force to be sent to Absolutan to enable peace, and the peace process to take place.

Fellow delegates of the forum, I believe that these measures are appropriate for the severity of these crimes, and I encourage you to support these measures of condemnation for one of the most sinister and cynical acts by a state in recent times. Delegates, Ladies and Gentlemen, I yield the floor to my fellow delegates to debate these motions.

Eareamland belives Izaakia is just trying to get dirt off their shoulders and onto ours, and thus, will not waste our time with this mockery of the High World Forum.
Please, do not follow through with this motion. It is a waste of all our time.

Izaakia believes eareamland is using the condemnation of Izaakia as a cynical umbrella under which to hide its illegal war and suspected war crimes.

While the Federal Republic of GI-Land also views the developments in its region with deep concern, including the declaration of war by Eareamland, almost all points you make do not have the effect, that the World Forum needs to intervene.

1) The alleged provocation by an Eareamian airship in the air space of the conflicted region is one thing, and one thing only: An assumption, without any evidence at hand.
Furthermore a civilian airship shall not get shot down by any party of the war, even if they are in the unfortunate situation of being in restricted airspace.

2) Eareamland is allowed to declare war on any nation they want. While the WF needs to promote and maintain peace and will of course focus on the casus belli Eareamland is giving, and also calls for diplomatic solutions, it is not forbidden to go to war. This includes nations thousands of kilometers away from one another.
Also there is no such thing as a requirement to be democratically elected to declare a war. If King James I is the commander-in-chief of the Eareamian army, then it is his right to go to war, if he has a casus belli and sees the sovereignity and security of his nation and people in danger.

3) The argument with the nuclear weapons falls short. No nuclear power should under any circumstance, which includes war, use its nuclear arsenal. Here we just call for all nations, who are not part of the Nuclear Weapon Prohibition Treaty yet, to join the agreement.

Since the reason and wording of your resolution is lacking any substantiability and substance over all, GI-Land will - at the current moment - not support this motion in any way.

The Republic of Snolland wants to express its utter disgust, when its delegates were reading this resolution.
No substance, too much pathos, and likely just a maneuver to try to distract us from the fact, that Izaakian officials will soon be heard and judged in front of the International Court.
Until this proposal, your nation and its representatives seemed to have some dignity left, but this might have gotten lost now on the way.
Whoever decided to bring this into the discussion: You brought disgrace over your country.
My recommendation would be to withdraw this resolution and finally show some spine.

With all due respect ambassador, if nobody intended to use nuclear weapons then nobody would have a nuclear arsenal.

While the Peocracy concurs with delegates, especially concerns raised by the delegate of Gi-Land and Snolland respectively on the overall bias the ambassador of Izaakia on the current events transpiring. We could not avoid the elephant in the room.

We would like to express concern that the state of unity in the northwest of our region is nothing short of worrisome. These conflicts are raised from international waters, which has taken a role in further increasing regionwide danger in the seas of The South Pacific even more since the Reizen theatre. While we respect the sovereignity of Eareamland and their Casus Belli. There are several things that needed done.

Primarily, the investigation towards the downing of the civilian airship en route to Besern. If Earemland were to use the downing as their casus belli, it must be firmly justified. Evidence must be made, and investigated by the World Forum Aircraft Safety Agency and other unbiased investigators.

Such, to know the fate of the souls that lost their lives in the flaming ball of helium, is imperative. Unfortunately, could not be done if Earemland continues to add pressure on an already concerning turn of events, leading to a lack of cooperation from Absolustan themselves as the accused.

We simply call for de-escalation, and appreciate notions from the Kingdom of Sedunn to lead a call for stability in the region, and expects nations in the area to take heed.

I could not have said it better myself.

We have been observing the state of Eareamland and Izaakia for a little while now with worry.  But now Absolustan is in the picture and frankly, we are worried that vital trade from that area could be interrupted, which will hurt nations that do rely on Besern exports.

Antarcha is very much concerned ourselves, my fellow delegates.  The open hostility of the Eareamland leadership is frankly, very dangerous, if peaceful resolutions weren't even attempted, and it certainly looks to be that way.  While we cannot stand with our Izaakian neighbors on their questionable annexation of territories, we also cannot ignore the needless extra war that Eareamland is trying to start.  This needs a well-moderated discussion between the two parties, as well as an investigation into the downed airship, as the honorable delegates from GI-Land and Huawan have pointed out.

As far as the proposal goes, international sanctions to Eareamland will have far more consequences to the innocent citizens of the nation than what may be intended, and should this motion pass, however unlikely, Antarcha will stand against the unjust sanctions and take whatever punishment your proposal may imply.  It would be my suggestion to at least detail further the extent of these things.  Are they travel bans?  Cutting off trade?  What is the punishment for refusing to comply?  Losing World Forum membership status?

As the honorable delegate from GI-Land has pointed out, it is not against the law to declare war, and it is the Eareamland king's right to declare war as their constitution and laws allow.  We do, however, should frown upon the war and speak out against it.  Eareamland has not violated any international law as far as we are aware in Antarcha.

In conclusion, honorable delegates, I will strongly urge our Forum to urge Eareamland and Absolustan to seek peace before going to war, to consider the consequences of another war in our region.
