[Proposal] Adopt-a-Nation
#1

since i'm a lazy fuck that does not feel like writing a formal proposal about this, i'll write like how i speak in discord
yes, underwhelming, i know

chapter 1: adopt-a-nation
say that you don't want one of your nations anymore, but you don't want it's history and backstories and shit to go to waste in the painful process of letting it cease to exist. you can let a new roleplayer who may be interested in continuing your stories to take control of your nation entirely.

when one adopts a nation, the history, the backstories, the rest of the shit all transfers into the hands of the new roleplayer, and the new roleplayer has the right to build whatever he/she/it wants on the story. at the same time, the old roleplayer has a plot/plots freed up for them to create new nations that they are more keen in roleplaying. win, win.

this proposal attempts to legitimize this method as an option for one to be able to do so in similar situations, by allowing the roleplay moderators and other relevant moderators to faciliate this smoothly by creating channels where this method can take place. [etc. an official list disclosing what nations one wants to give away and what they are about]

chapter 2: adopt-a-plot
say you want to create a new nation, but you have stupidly claimed 3 plots for your only nation in pacifica, and you don't want to create that new nation outside the south pacific. again, you also want to preserve your history, backstory, other shit, etc.

you can use a similar method to the adopt-a-nation process by granting one of your plots [denoted as regions] independence.

all the regional history of the plot, all the backstories, all the cities, etc. will be transferred to the new roleplayer and the rest of the nation will still be in the hands of the old roleplayer, but at the same time, a plot is freed up for the new roleplayer to found a new nation.

again, same objective as the adopt-a-nation proposal.

side note: i don't plan to give up besern anytime soon, this is just something that came up in my head and wanted to propose for people who want to do such thing, even if it becomes unused and useless

this is all i can come up at the moment, so please, shall we discuss this further or throw this to the trash, who knows, anyway, begin

As someone who finds creating a nation in an already established canon a tad more difficult, hence why I mostly focus on the A1-0 and Aurora Canons, I think this is an excellent way for players like me to join the Pacifica Canon without having to hassle all of previous Pacifica history when creating a new nation. The whole Pacifica Canon can be overwhelming and I think for some RP'ers it might be handy to RP an already established nation, since you already have one leg in the Canon and don't need to enter with both of them at once as a figure of speech. Definitely looking forward to any potential implementation of this proposal.

Looks very interesting. I wonder who would control New Goldman if this passed.

Wouldn't this adopt-a-nation proposal require new roleplayers to learn an awful lot of the lore and canon of Pacifica anyway? I don't really see how this makes it easier for new roleplayers.

I'm not so sure of what to think about this.
On the one hand this all sounds like a good idea, on the other I fear you open the door to some new kind of "hoarding" on the map.
I also share Landburn's doubt, that it'd be easier for a new roleplayer to dive into the roleplay. After all they then would not only have to learn about regional, but also about their new nation's history - except they'd decide to retcon many, many things. The question in this case would be: "Why would you adopt a nation/plot then instead of founding/finding your own?"

At the moment I'm somewhat neutral to that proposal and open for it, if a majority of our roleplayers is in favour of it. Unfortunately I can't shrug off certain bad gut feelings I seem to have though.

I'd love to see this idea put into practice! How would affect contemporary and existing diplomacy between two regions, though?
