PARLIAMENT APPROVED WORLD FORUM'S CHARTER, LIVANA TO JOIN THE ORGANIZATION
[Image: i9QFqv1.jpg]
Parliament Session of July 7th, discussing the approval of the World Forum Charter and Livana's involvement in International Politics.

In a vote held by the College of Representatives back in July 7th, the College passed the Edict 120/2021, effectively approving the charter of the World Forum. The move was led by Hon. Fergus Amber MP, the current Chairman of the Conservatives, and had garnered support from throughout the Liberty Coalition. Even though the move was quite popular among the people of Livana, especially the supporters of the Liberty Coalition, and even earned personal approval of President Trenton and Prime Minister Alston, it only passes after what Mr. Amber described as '...a gruesome fight and torturous campaign...' in an interview after the edict was passed. The Conservatives Chairman further elaborated that he had been proposing the move since back in 2020 after he secured his position as a chairman, and had experienced setbacks caused by oppositions from the People's Coalition.

Nevertheless, the passing of Edict 120/2021 showed the eagerness of the Trenton administration to participate in the world affairs, as what the Liberty Coalition's campaign back in 2020 had promised. The People's Coalition however didn't appreciate the passing of the edict. In an interview with the Chairman of the Worker Party, Hon. Jeanne Borquette MP expressed her worry about Livana's meddling in international affairs. According to the Chairman, she believes that Livanan must come first before anything, lest the bickering of international showdown. Regardless of her opinion, the People's Coalition, on the whole, is split on the agenda of the edict, with centrist MPs in the Worker Party voting for the passage, while many leftist and of course, MPs from the Syndicalist Party voted against it. In the end, it is to be seen what Livana's entrance to the Forum would bring for our people. A promising trade agreement and international cooperation? Or a damaging foreign interference in Livanan livelihoods? We hope that the Trenton Administration would tread their steps carefully.

CINIS BEGINS CONSTRUCTION ON RING ROAD
The Governor of the Union of Cinis, Res. Jonathan Wilde had officially started the construction of the six lanes Cinis Ring Road Project. The Project is estimated to spend almost ₣15 billion and is considered to be the largest public infrastructure project since the Tarsis Regime's Toll Roads Initiative in the '60s. The project is expected to improve Cinis' overall capacity on transportation, especially transportation of ores from Cinis mining sites. Environmentalists have been vocal in voicing their concern against the project, especially in the CRR-4 section of the project which lays just a mere 200 meters from the Cinaian Wildlife Park.

PEOPLE'S VOICE: QUALITY EMPLOYMENT ENDANGERED
Will Ferrel, a Professor of Management Economy from the University of Arcana has been vocal in what he called 'A Crusade for Quality Employment'. He is worried about the state of Livana's declining vocational education, and the harm it would cause to employment in general. 'It is a sacrilege, that the government didn't put more attention to vocational schools.' said the professor in an interview with NP on July 17th in his sunny home in Jerry Road, Arcana. The 60-year-old Professor further elaborates, that 'Vocational school is the heart of Livana's qualified employees. It offers training necessary for people to have practical and secure jobs with good payment.'

Ferrel has been working on a paper with his students and colleagues in the University, to provide the government of Northern Liv with data on the quality of employees, and the great boons that vocational school has been offering to these employees. He hoped that the Northern Liv Congressional Committee would accept his paper as a basis to give vocational schools more funding and attention in the coming regional Education Budget Meeting in August. 'We hope that they (Congressional Committee) will allow us to voice our opinion in this matter. Vocational school is important, and yet I've never seen a significant rise in their funding, even though regular high schools had received 12 different budget increase since 20 years ago.' complaint the Professor.

ENVIRONMENTALIST PROTESTS IN CINIS, VIGILANTES ATTACKED CONSTRUCTION WORKERS
[Image: RvUStp1.jpg]
Protesters holding cardboard signs on morning, July 27th. The protests is currently still ongoing.

Protest, held by many environmentalist groups in Cinis has been going on in Varana since July 25th, following the arrest of the famous Cinaian outdoorsman, Gary Donoghue after he trespassed the CRR-4 construction site of the ring road project to save a Black Eagle which was allegedly shot by some of the workers near the Cinaian Wildlife Park on July 22nd. Mr. Donoghue's accusation had fallen to deaf ears as there were neither any evidence nor  any witnesses to the incident; the bird in question is nowhere to be seen. However the state is pressing charges against Mr. Donoghue for 'Obstruction of National Priority Undertaking', threatening the outdoorsman with at full, 10 years in prison, and fines up to ₣2 million. The protesters rallied in a unity march on July 25th towards Cinaian State Court, and has since camped outside the court. A donation was held two days ago to gather monetary support for bailing out Mr. Donoghue and for hiring a good lawyer. But apparently, a new situation developed, as a group of vigilantes attacked the construction site last night, injured three workers and damaging an asphalt presser. The attack soured support for the protesters, and the Cinaian State Police Headquarter has since, dispatched more polices to guard the protesting masses in front of the court.

Some members of the Cinaian Union Assembly, particularly members from the Worker Party, are showing support for the captive Mr. Donoghue. The speaker of the assembly, Hon. Henrietta Dolly MSA was seen amongst the protester just yesterday, accompanied by some other members of the assembly. The Syndicalist Party accused the speaker for 'early campaign' in a bid to deleveraging support from the Governor, and stated that the matter shouldn't be political; no MSAs or members of the state administration should interfere with the justice system, stated the speaker of the Syndicalist Party, Hon. Morell Vinata MP, in Livana this morning. Governor Wilde's administration has not commented on the affair.

EMBASSY ROW OPENED
In a ceremony held on July 23rd in front of the Theocratic Dining Hall, the Mayor of Livonia, together with the Minister of Foreign Affair, Hon. Vera Staunton officially opened the new Embassy Row in Herven Ward. Until now, three embassies has been built in the row (Embassies of the Kingdom of Sedunn, Federal Republic of Besern, and the United States of Izaakia), and more to come as Livana is opening up to the world. In her opening speech, Miss Staunton stated that the Embassy Row will be a crucial infrastructure to develop friendship and cooperation with nations throughout the world. The architecture of the Row would be reminiscent of each guest countries, offering a unique glimpse to South Pacific's diversity. Further improvements would also be made in the Hunter Beach and Livonia's Yachting Club to accommodate future conferences.

PEOPLE'S VOICE : SLUMS OF LIVONIA
It was two days after the opening of the Embassy Row, which according to Minela Folker, a showcase of sustainable development. Miss Folker, Chief Strategist of the Livonian City Planning Board, was one of the main contributors of the project, having been working on it since 1991. However, she regards the cleansing of the slums as a more greater achievement than the Row's construction. In an interview with NP, on the cloudy morning of July 25th in the Tarsis Square, she expressed the needs to clean every slums and shanty towns in Livonia. "Slums are socially and economically backward, and it held the entire city from achieving a sustainable future," said the Chief Strategist. She elaborated that slums are unsafe for its own citizen mainly due to its nature for being good hideouts for criminal activities. On the other hand, crucial and secondary services provided by the government couldn't reach these tenement of the poor, even though they are the ones who needed them the most. Everyone still remembers the uncontrolled Harrian Slum Fires in 2006, causing 302 deaths and costing a loss of up to ₣500 million, which could have been prevented if the area was serviced with fire hydrants and uses the government subsidized fire detector.

"Social Housing is the solution" stated Miss Folker. She has been the Lead Manager in the construction of the Herven Ward Social Housing Complex (SHC) which now housed the former tenants of the Tarsis Slum. The SHC she helped to built offers all government services that average Livanan citizen would be entitled to, and does not incur rental payments for its tenants which earned less than ₣4000 a year. The successful construction of the SHC is met with great enthusiasm by the former slum tenants. Apparently, Miss Folker received four thanking letters the day before her interview. "They're mostly grateful that we didn't move them too far from the Hunter Beach." said the Chief Strategist with a grateful smile. Her work however is not finished, as the City Council is currently discussing another SHC scheme, which now will involve technical architecture graduates of the University of Livonia and some private developers. Miss Folker is hoping that this development would bring Livonia, and Livana as a whole, closer to a sustainable future.

PM ALSTON SHOWED SUPPORT FOR GARY DONOGHUE
[Image: J9imo2Y.jpg]
PM Gertrude Alston made a statement in support of environmentalists in Cinis in a press conference last week.

In a press conference last week after a parliament session on regulations on construction near wildlife sanctuaries, Prime Minister Gertrude Alston made a surprising statement in support of environmentalist in Cinis, and to the family of captive Mr. Donoghue. 'I believe that its time for environmentalists to be heard. Their cause are the noblest in these chaotic time. I wish to give my support for Mr. Donoghue and his family through this event.' stated the PM. Furthermore, she also promised to contact the governor of Cinis to negotiate the accusation that the state has made towards Mr. Donoghue. The PM further elaborated that 'This is time for the government to stop terrorizing activist with lawsuits. Instead, Livana needs to looks toward the future of co-existing with the environment harmoniously.'

There were still nothing coming out of the office of the Governor of Cinis, not even a comment. The court will be held in August 17th and many environmentalists have made plans to attends it. However, construction continues in the CRR-4 section of the Cinis Ring Road, and are scheduled to finish next month. Protesters and Mr. Donoghue's relatives accused the state for stalling time to finish the section and moves to the next section of the ring road.

PRESIDENT OPENED CANNA OLIVE FESTIVAL
The Canna Olive Festival, an annual festival held in August 1st to August 7th has been one of the main attraction in Canna. The festival always offers the best of Southern Liv olives, and many olive based dishes in low prices. President Trenton officially opened the festival, and was present for the first day of the festival, enjoying Cannan music and arts and also eating with the citizens. In his opening speech, the President stated his affection for all things Cannan, because of his Cannan blood from his mother. President Trenton hopes that the festival will bring prosperity to Canna, and preserve Canna's cultural heritage for generations to come. Almost five thousands people attend the President's opening speech, and most were reportedly very excited to meet the President Trenton, and the first lady Mrs. Elena Trenton whom toured the Cannan boutiques with Cannan citizens.

PEOPLE'S VOICE : GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
Livanan Powers, the state corporation responsible to produce and distribute electricity to all Livanan, has made an encouraging scheme with private companies last week. In a bid to decrease Livana's reliance with coal-powered electric plants, the CEO of Livanan Powers, Gareth MacDonald has launched a five year program to support Livanan Powers' plan to built a geothermal plant in Mount Carna. Environmentalist corporations and fundraiser has been a key player to the program, but Livanan Powers fell short of ₣15 billion to support the first stage of the construction. Many environmentalist and academia stated their disappointment with the apathy that many corporates and rich people have toward green energy. 'This is upsetting, that the best people of Livana are still uninterested in rescuing our world.' stated Allan Hieratus, a philanthropist and business person  from Varana. In an interview with NP on August 2nd in his Recycle Varana Headquarter, the philanthropist elaborated the need for Livana to change its energy scheme. 'I was excited that the government did care towards green energy, and this geothermal scheme is bound to be one step on the right direction into a carbon free Livana.' furthered Mr. Hieratus.

Mr. Hieratus has been one of the richest person in Northern Liv, mainly through his Recycle Varana company which handled recycling for almost 75% of Northern Liv's waste. His facility north of Varana is currently producing 30,000 kWh worth of electricity and selling the electricity to Livanan Powers, powering at least 1,000 houses in Varana using methane from wastes. His other facility recycled plastics and electronics in throughout Northern Liv in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Mr. Hieratus was the very first to support the geothermal plant scheme. 'I always read about the great potentials that Mount Carna would offers to Livana. The volcano is the biggest source of energy apart from the sun that we can find in Livana.' stated Mr. Hieratus when asked why he invested in the scheme. About 5,000 gWh can be expected from a medium geothermal facility in Mount Carna, thanks to the volcano's activity. He hopes that many of his peers in the corporate sector would see all of the benefits from this scheme.

THE EVENING REPORT

LIVONIA21 October 2021

'FREEDOM AND JUSTICE', MAIN THEME OF 2021 NATIONAL DAY
[Image: 2eMa6h4.jpg]
President Trenton during the 'Trooping the Colour' ceremony on National Day Celebration

Massive military parade - the largest since the Tarsis Administration - was held in Livonia on the celebration of National Day on September 26th. The parade involved 1,500 troops from the army and the marines, 2 navy submarines and aerobatic show by the air force. The parade successfully drawn a crowd of 20,000 on the Tarsis Square, and more than 50,000 on the National Plaza. The main occasion of the parade, the Presidential Speech, is attended by all cabinet members and state governors of Livana. President Trenton's speech, which took less than 5 minutes, brought a roar of applause by the spectators, focusing on freedom and justice as the very soul of Livanan liberty. He also stated the importance of unity and traditions in the face of globalization and rapid modernization of the country. His speech was closed with a 21 gun salute from the 13th Artillery Regiment, and the aerobatic show performed by members of the air force. PM Alston only gives short remarks on development and the environment after the show, followed by her opening of the National Feast.

Across the nation, celebrations are held in different and unique ways. In Varana, fishermen and coalminers parade through Foramil's Square wearing their respective job attires. Environmentalist held a separate parade near Cinaian State Court, using uniquely designed attires from recycled materials. In Arcana, the National Feast is held in the Gunther Beach, and more than 500 venues took part. While in Canna, the Bishop of Canna gave a lengthy sermon, and led the National Feast with religious rituals. Despite each regions has its own way of doing things, the day showcase the highest form of unity amongst the people of this isles.

PM AND PARLIAMENT PARDONED GARY DONOGHUE
In a vote held on October 1st, Parliament approved PM Alston's request to pardon Gary Donoghue and stop the legal process entirely surrounding his case. The vote was close, with 33 approval and 32 denial, and showing no unity among party lines in the chamber. Mr. Donoghue is released from captivity the next day, and an apology statement was made by Governor Wilde on October 3rd. His release was celebrated by environmentalist protesters in Varana and Livonia, and was welcomed by a statement from the Minister of Environment and Public Spaces, Hon. Jane Cauldron. However, political observers and correspondents are alarmed by the disunity in Parliament, insinuating a potential for minority government in the future, or perhaps a more gridlocked version of Parliament, threatening the passage of national edicts.

PEOPLE'S VOICE : IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON FROM COLONEL TARSIS
As the 21st century roared on, Livana is still struggling with one of her darkest chapter in history. Even though some still feels certain nostalgia with Colonel Tarsis' rule in the 50s to the 70s, there are no doubts that he is one of the worst leader in Livanan history. His iron fist regime silenced the people's voice, while his corruption only serve to enrich his friends and allies. He was a bad person. But, even with all of his sabotage against Livana's democratic values and the people's liberty, Livana endured a time of stability under his administration. Stability which brought temporary booming period to our economy in the 60s and 70s. Even though this prosperity ends with a massive economic crisis and yet another bankruptcy, it is worth wondering, is Tarsis to be credited with this prosperity, or is he irrelevant, not just to this economic miracle, but for the rest of Livana's journey to the future.

According to Historian Alain Harold, Tarsis is irrelevant for us in the 21st century. This Professor of Livanan Political History, from Calmin Social Institute, stated during our interview on October 20th, that Tarsis has no hand in the 60s and 70s boom, and that he shouldn't be credited for anything at all, but his notoriety in dismantling Livana's democracy, and the bankruptcy in his last years. 'The (economic) boom has nothing to do with his (Tarsis') policies, but everything to do with the condition of the global market at the time.' stated the Historian. He furthered that Tarsis' own policy of nationalization while at the same time, kept borrowing more money from foreign countries and investors to fund his infrastructure projects was unsustainable, and is far from any common sense regarding development policies. This policies is the direct cause for the sudden investment loss in the 70s, and Livana's second bankruptcy in the 20th century. In a closing remark, he said, '... we as a nation must start to realize that this man was not an idyllic leader. This man only knows leadership through strength, and has no intention to see his strength wane away. It is time for Livana to move on from Tarsis' legacy.'

PARLIAMENT BRAWLS OVER EDUCATION BUDGET INCREASE
[Image: n64CiO2.jpg]
MPs physically attacks each other during a parliamentary debate on October 25th

MPs physically attack each other after a debate regarding education budget increase yesterday morning turns chaotic. The chaos began with a claim made by the Opposition leader Hon. Jeanne Borquette of the government's intention on using the budget increase as a means to increase taxes on poorer citizens. Her argument was met with personal attacks from government MPs, particularly about Mrs. Borquette's pending divorce trial, which enraged the opposition side. A fight ensues forcing the Collegial Speaker to halt the debate. As the condition in the chamber became untenable, Sergeant-at-Arms evacuate the Speaker and PM Alston. Parliamentary security officers and Livonian police officers managed to disperse the MPs by afternoon.

President Trenton condemned the atrocities in the Parliament as uncivilized in a statement last night. He encourages an inquiry to be made on MPs in Parliament to prevent physical atrocities to happen again. Across the opposition, members of the Labour Coalition demand an apology from the Freedom Faction regarding their statements on Mrs. Borquette. Syndicalist Party Chairman, Hon. Rubicon Azeri made a statement this morning, regarding the barbarian tactics that the Freedom Faction utilize to safeguard their Opposition, and calls for the Worker and Labour Party to unite their commitment to the Coalition.

ATTACK WITH POLITICAL INTENTIONS IN CANNA
A teacher from Canna 2nd Highschool was attacked yesterday by a vigilante who claimed himself a member of the Syndicalist Party. The teacher was assaulted with a kitchen knife and a baseball bat, resulting in some bruises and a cut through the teacher's hand. The teacher was rescued by a nearby bystander and brought to the hospital. Canna City Police requested the teacher's testimony yesterday and was quick to identify and capture the assailant. 19 years old J.L. was arrested yesterday evening in a local pub. He claimed his attack was a result of the teacher's rightist tendency on her teaching, and that his attack was a defense against propaganda. He is still under police custody and is waiting for his first hearing on October 28th.

PEOPLE'S VOICE: WE TRUST THE MILITARY
A poll was made by a group of students from the State University of Livonia, regarding people's trust toward government establishments in Livana. The result was quite extraordinary, stated Professor Henry Calvin, Professor of Political Science and the student group's supervisor. He claimed that through the poll, it is apparent that the people place more trust in the military than the civilian government. The poll, which is part of research toward ordinary Livanan's perception of politics, engaged with 2,000 participants from throughout the country. It resulted in 61% of participants trusting Livana's armed forces as a guarantee for peace and stability in the country. Further questionnaire reveals the distrust people have towards the civilian government mainly attributed to transparency problems and disunities caused by political motives. The military, on the other hand, is seen as a neutral and apolitical body that can make quick decisions in order to ensure peace and stability.

However, it is worth mentioning that people still overwhelmingly prefer civilian administration to military one. Professor Calvin stated that the people almost universally believe in Livana's democracy. Their only concern is that the political elites of Livana are seemingly too distant from their everyday life, making most electorates feel neglected. Open government, said the professor, has never made it to any party's political manifesto since the 80s, which indicates that political parties have something to hide from the public; creating distrust and uneasiness among the populace. Professor Calvin argues strongly for further transparency on the administration. More transparency would equal more accountability, which means the people will have more control over their representatives and leader, both at the state level and at the federal level.

WAR IN PACIFICA! LIVANAN MILITARY PREPARE FOR EXERCISE
[Image: cGP33Pa.jpg]
LCS Martena (foremost) and other navy ships depart Livonian Port for a military exercise in an undisclosed area

Izaakian President Blanc has declared a state of war against Nicolas and Great Britain yesterday after a month of a humanitarian crisis in Nicolas and Great Britain, resulting in mass genocide. The declaration went on despite an ongoing World Forum attempt to condemn and further restrict Nicolas and Great Britain capability to continue their vicious agenda. The declaration was met with condemnations from nations across Pacifica, and is further complicated due to the current visit of King Vimru of Sedunn in Nicolas and Great Britain. In retaliation, Sedunn restricts any visit toward USI nations and forbid Izakian crafts to enter Sedunn's airspace and territorial sea.

President Trenton passsed the General Order 3 last night after a three-hour cabinet meeting, requesting all Livanan armed forces branches to heighten their alert and conduct advanced exercising. A press briefing is held this morning in the Cabinet Office, wherein the Speaker of The Cabinet, Hon. Keira Venton stated that the President and the Prime Minister is in coordination to prepare Livana for the worst. "If the World Forum decides that military intervention is necessary to suppress the humanitarian crisis in Nicolas and Great Britain, Livana stands ready to heed the call," stated the Speaker.

WHAT IS GENERAL ORDER 3?
General Order 3 is an order demanding heightened military caution and increased deployment and exercise of all military personnel of Livana. The order was enacted last time, during the destructive years of the Great War by President Hunters, to prepare Livana if the nation is dragged into the war. Since then, a conscription program was enacted by President Tarsis Vitruvia, and was preserved by the new Confederacy Government since the passage of the Constitution of 1983. With the passage of this order, citizens may expect more military activities near military bases and ports, while the yearly conscription exercise will be improved with artillery and military vehicle training. This order, part of the greater 5 General Orders, is a privilege of the President and has been included in all Livanan constitutions since the formation of the republic in the 19th century.

PEOPLE'S VOICE: IT'S TIME FOR THE YOUNGSTER TO GET DISCIPLINED
A coincidence you may call, dear readers. But we interviewed an elderly civil war veteran right before General Order 3 was passed as a follow-up for our coverage on President Tarsis Vitruvia's legacy in contemporary Livana. Mr. Humphrey was an FF fighter, fighting side by side with President Vitruvia during his campaign on liberating Southern Liv from the Nationalist forces. Even though he now harbor different views of Tarsis, he still believes that the military is the best way for a man to be formed. "I might differ from the President's views. But he was a man of discipline and courage. I have never questioned his decision, and neither did others in the FF. He is the best kind of man you'll find." stated the Veteran in his retirement home in Arcana three days ago.

"I believe that it's time for our youngsters to get disciplined. University is all good and whatnot, but discipline must be forced. There's just no other way to attain this," continues the Veteran. He applauded the current conscription program, although he believes the time allocated for it is not enough. He elaborated that the military is a force for good, and any future Livanan leadership should have experience as a military man. This is actually evident; all Presidents since Vitruvia have served for at least 20 years. President Trenton himself was an Air Force Major until his debut in politics. The Veteran knows this, and with a firm belief stated "We are in capable hand for the moment."

THE EVENING REPORT

LIVONIA26 December 2021

PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS ON DAY OF SAINTS
[Image: iYGWo1C.jpg]
The President addressed the nation with the First Lady.

In the annual Day of Saints Address yesterday, President Peter Trenton was accompanied by his wife, First Lady Merina Trenton in the presidential winter housing, Hoffer Chateau, Arcana. The President used this occasion to uphold Livanan moral values, and the power of unity through perseverance, as taught by Saint Ardente of Canna. A quote from the president's address said that '... Love and caring have been the ultimate characteristics by which Livanan lives through history... Our moral values define our traditions through our works, preserving our pasts and safeguarding our future.' The president then called for unity amidst the increasing political polarization reported throughout the country.

Day of Saints is celebrated differently across the nation. Each region celebrates its own patron saints with its own unique ways. However, the unifying event of the day, the veneration of Arch-Saint Angelos, was held differently this year. The closed veneration procession inside Hiron Cathedral was, for the first time, televised and broadcasted life across the nation. The procession, led by High Priest Nicholas XVI, was attended by the Prime Minister and other government officials present at Livonia.

INCREASING POLITICAL VIOLENCE
A report from the Ministry of Interior suggested an increase in political violence in Livana. The increase, although varies from region to region, is observable by local security officers and citizens alike. Reports of assault and vandalism with political intent this year are the highest since the '80s. Even though a significant portion of young adults - demography which usually attributed to political violence - is under military training or active duty following the passage of General Order 3 last month, the violence is markedly increasing in areas with a higher number of citizens between the age of 18 to 28. Minister of Interior, Fergus Amber, elaborated that the election of 2020 has brought significant polarization effect to the populace, rendering extreme political views more advent in the public.

PEOPLE'S VOICE: GENERAL ORDER 3 IS NO LONGER RELEVANT
Political activists and observers alike are sounding an end toward the enactment of General Order 3. 'Now that worldwide tension is declining, and peace is to be restored throughout Pacifica, Livana has no more need for General Order 3.' stated Michael Gunderson, Daily Livonia political correspondent. In an interview with us two days before the Day of Saints, Mr. Gunderson expressed the illogicality of President Trenton's decision to 'alarm' the nation into a foreign conflict that Livana has no part of. 'The conflict was Izaakia's and Nicholas and Great Britain's cause in the first place' said Mr. Gunderson. We then asked him about the possibility of a coalition maneuvering against Izaakia's aggression, or Nicholas and Great Britain's horrific acts of crime against humanity, in relevance to President Trenton's decision to prepare our military for such endeavor. Mr. Gunderson answered our question without haste, that even if a coalition is formed between members of the World Forum to confront either Izaakia or Nicholas and Great Britain, he persisted that Livana would only need its standing military to participate. 'One or two divisions would suffice our participation in a peacekeeping operation. We are a small country in the grander scheme of things, and they (World Forum) wouldn't expect us to mobilize all of our population for such an operation.'

We then asked the political correspondent's own theory on why General Order 3 was issued. Mr. Gunderson simply answered 'I don't know.' He elaborated that there may be some political points to be gained, but he is not sure what these points would be. 'I can only sympathize with our younger friends who have to celebrate the Day of Saints in a military base.' said Mr. Gunderson.

THE EVENING REPORT

SUCCESSFUL NEGOTIATION WITH MEDITERRANEAN STATES
[Image: 5sAK94B.jpg]
Minister of Foreign Affairs during yesterday's press conference.

Months of negotiation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with representatives from Sallodesian companies have come to fruition. In a press conference held yesterday evening, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Vera Staunton briefed the nation with the details of the deal. The agreement revolves mainly around access to Livana's steel export. The government agreed to increase the volume of steel export for two Sallodesian companies; Bullowayo Heavy Engineering & Sallocopter Group. The deal involved Livanan Steel Corporation and many other private steel manufacturers throughout Livana.

Mrs. Staunton elaborated that the deal will help increase revenue for Livana's biggest steel manufacturers, including Livanan Steel Corporation. The government stated that increased revenue will lead to improvements in steel manufacturing productivity, especially in Southern Liv and Cinis. If the revenue is reinvested back into modernization and production expansion, the government predicts an additional 15,000 - 20,000 new employment in all steel-related industries in Livana. The minister expected other deals to be reached, with the advent of free trade across the Mediterranean under CMEC regulations.

STOINIAN AGRICULTURE COMPANIES EXPAND TO LIVANA
Two Stoinian Agriculture giants - Agro Mediterranea & AgroStoinia - have begun exporting wheat to Livana. As Livana relied heavily on foreign wheat for food, the deal was readily accepted by the Government. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Gunther Calmar welcomes the additional volume of wheat. "Livana has experienced a gradual price increase of wheat for the past decade. We hope that an additional volume of wheat from foreign producers will help the supply of wheat in Livana and improve national food availability.

PEOPLE'S VOICE: OUTSIDER BUSINESSES IN THE MARINA
The warm and inviting Livanan Marina is always crowded in December. Running away from the snow and cold of northern winter, tourists flocks to the Marina every year, filling all the hotels and booking out all the restaurants. Mr. Alcea Clayton, stated to us in an interview last week about the sudden spike of revenue between October to January for all Marina Guild's associates. Mr. Clayton, one of the caretakers of Marina's luxury hotel, the five-star Tarleton Inn has been in the tourism and leisure business almost his whole life. "My father was also a caretaker of Tarleton and a respectable member of the Guild," said the elderly gentleman. "Business is always good in December. However, the Guild often ran into troubles in mid-years due to low visitation." When we asked him about local tourists, Mr. Clayton jokingly laugh before stating that "Livana's entire coasts are marinas. Who would want to visit some distant place when their home is at least 5 miles from the nearest beach?"

The Marina Guild is a collective council made up of representatives from all businesses in the Marina area. The Guild is ancient; once served as a merchant guild of the region. The guild's exclusivist aura has prevented outsider leisure businesses to expand into the marina. However, the recent deal struck between the Guild and the Myrian Corporation, Tannos Luxury Yachts, has shown an attempt of the Guild to open its exclusive beach frontage for foreign investments. "We acknowledge that our practice is no longer sustainable. We will need investments from outside our council eventually," stated Mr. Clayton. Mr. Clayton expressed his hope that the Government's Tourism Expansion Program and the luxury dockyard construction would benefit the Marina, and Livana as a whole.

STATE FUNERAL OF JEREMY CLINTON
[Image: oX5qNpl.jpg]
Former Prime Minister's State Funeral Procession.

The funeral of Jeremy Clinton started with an Honouring Procession inside Hiron Cathedral's main atrium at 08.00 in the morning. The public ceremony includes a choir singing and a troop review by the President. At 10.00, the coffin is mounted into a horse carriage, escorted by the 'Thunder Company' 32nd North Liv Mounted Company. With the bereaved family in the front, the procession went through Halbert-Joanna Avenue towards the Portofino National Cemetery south of the Old City. Countless citizens attended the procession, as well as Civil War Veterans and politicians of Clinton's era.

After reaching the cemetery, Prime Minister Alston gave a short remark about the First Prime Minister's life. She briefly pointed out the many achievements Clinton had, both personal and through His administration, as well as the many values the deceased held through the perilous years of Reformation. Her remark ended with a thankful note, representing the gratitudes all Livanan owe to the late Mr. Clinton.

LIVONIA PREPARES TO HOST THE PRESIDENTIAL LEAGUE
Earlier this week, the National Football Association announced Livonia as the next host for the Presidential League. The announcement was met with sudden activity in Livonia Sports Complex, particularly around the Tarsis Rotunda. The old stadium is in the final stage of a renovation that started six months ago regarding its roofing and sanitation. The Mayor of Livonia ensured the Association that the Complex and the Stadium will be finished by late March; three weeks before the first match begins.

PEOPLE'S VOICE: A GRANDSON PERSPECTIVE
NP met the late Jeremy Clinton's grandson in his residence on February 7th. Michael Clinton is currently teaching history at a local elementary school and lives inside a flat in Tossor Quarter; a residence we would barely call comfortable. However, Mr. Clinton, straight after letting our team into a small living/dining room, pointed out that this very flat is the home of the First Prime Minister, bought with his sweats and toils. Mr. Clinton proudly showed us the photos of his late grandfather and some of Jeremy Clinton's famed handmade mechanical clocks. Although some of those clocks would be priced for hundreds of thousands in Rochaumbert Auctions, and the fact that the Clinton Family received an undisclosed annual compensation, they live their life almost the same as the laborers of Tossor. When we asked where all the money went, Mr. Clinton said that he "... gave it to St. Oberys ..." an orphanage in Old Livonia his grandfather helped build in his youth. Indeed, the Clintons have always been humble and generous with their belongings.

Mr. Clinton reminisced about his time with his grandfather. "After my father's death, he took me as if I'm his son," said him. He stated that his youth with him was a peaceful and happy time. "But after he became Prime Minister, things become difficult for our family." Mr. Clinton said that the then Prime Minster Clinton became estranged from the rest of the family. However, as soon as his term ended, the Prime Minister returned to his family and quickly make amends. "He cried one night, begging our forgiveness, on which my mother said that there's nothing to be forgiven in the first place. The next day, he brought us to a three days trip in Aften." Mr. Clinton then said to us that Jeremy Clinton is the best man he ever met. A statesman and a patriot, a devoted son and a loving father, and an enduring role for future generations to come. He ended our meeting by giving to us a message from his grandfather. "Row your boat to the ends of the world, you will always need to return ashore - which basically means family matters."

THE EVENING REPORT

LIVONIA29 April 2022

FIRST MINORITY GOVERNMENT IN LIVANAN HISTORY
[Image: u8fH6Oy.jpg]
Hon. Jane Cauldron in Parliament after her resignation speech on April 28th.

A historical turn of events has happened in the past few days. The defeat of the coal mining regulation bill proposed by the Green Party has become the final needle, closing the official partnership of the party inside the Labour Coalition. In her resignation speech after the coalition split, the Green Party Leader and former Ministry for Forestries and Environment, Hon. Jane Cauldron spoke of her dismay that the current government hasn't taken environmental degradation as a major issue. "This is regrettable, but our party's work continues to make Livana a better place for all living things, with or without the government support." No member of the government has made a comment on this, but there were worrying signs of defections inside the Workers and Unions Party, with those in support of further regulations, and those who are influenced by the trade unions.

With the departure of the Green Party from the Labour Coalition, this government has become the very first minority government in Livana's history. In this state, it would be difficult for government bills and future programs to be pursued without a supportive parliament. A unique situation can also develop, with the opposition now able to try to call a motion of no confidence, practically calling for a snap election, separate from the presidential election. But all of this comes down to the Green Party's next move; whether it joins the Opposition, or stays neutral.

BID FOR THE NEW MINISTER FOR FORESTRIES AND ENVIRONMENT
PM Alston has announced three candidates to be appointed as the new Minister for Forestries and Environment by the President. Two of them, Hon. Carloman Sigil and Millicent Fawd are known members of the Workers and Unions Party's environmental committee, but the final candidate, Robert Leyton, is surprisingly an ardent supporter of the Syndicalist Party. He is the current Rector for the Livonia State University and a respectable figure amongst environmentalist activists. He famously participated in last year's protests against the Cinaian Ring Road construction and for the release of Gary Donoghue. Some pundits however are cynical about the appointment, stating that this is a mere gesture to try to make the Green Party returns into the fold. But many activists, including some in the Green Party itself, are hopeful that if Mr. Leyton is appointed, more progressive environmental programs can be put forward.

PEOPLE'S VOICE: OUT OF SIGHT DOES NOT MEAN OUT OF MIND
Roland Barker, NP Environmental Correspondent - From the mountainous Black Eagle Wildlife Reserve in Northern Liv, to the Aften National Park, the legacy of the old Republic's parklands initiative has kept 15% of Livana's territory green and pleasant. But with the current drive to develop and expand, it is the worry of a lot of people, that these great parklands might soon no longer have a place in the minds of our policymakers. Take what happened last year, with the construction of CRR-4 in Cinis, as an example of a government putting aside the environment for industrial expansion. In Aften, even with the enlargement of the protected zone, there are still reports of illegal encroachment of mining vehicles through the park, flattening a sizable portion of the ecosystem, and destroying a lot of habitats for the local Aften wildlife.

Numerous publications have put forward many studies, proving that Livana's wildlife diversity is shrinking. Industries across Livana have produced a lot of pollution, poisoning our water and air with toxic Carbon Monoxide, and causing an increasing number of acid rains. These harmful contaminants have been proven to be the main perpetrators of reducing diversity and destroying habitats. Even though these factories are located outside of protected areas, their contaminant can easily move into them, causing indirect damage. This process can't really be observed with the naked eye but the effect is glaringly clear. We call for our leaders to stop making excuses for this problem. We call them to take action, to preserve Livana's wildlife and great parklands for our children and their children in turn.
