Recall: Chair of the Assembly
#41

(10-01-2014, 10:55 AM)Punchwood Wrote: If you don't like him then don't vote for him it's as simply as that.

Except the question at hand isn't related to his potential reelection. What the Assembly is debating is whether his actions merit a removal from office before his full term is finished.

If Unibot went off on somebody in TNP or Lazarus, or caused a huge scandal in NS, and they were calling us out for not doing anything about it, then there'd be a real issue. But this is just Todd McCloud and buddies stirring shit up with Unibot, instead of just ignoring him. Nothing has changed.

Todd had actually NOTHING to do with this. He wasn't there when it happened and when the ops convened, he abstained in any decision making. This wasn't a TSP thing at all. It was about someone in a chat room making inappropriate comments in general, not directed towards anyone in particular.
I for one am NOT a Todd buddy, but not that I have anything against him, just have had little interaction with him. Raven and I basically run the room with Asta (as founder) a neutral party to make the final decisions. She has NEVER made desicions in the interest of a nation, region or group, but in the interest of the room.

If it is deemed necessary I will do so however I will be against it if that matters.

I feel that it is completely unsatisfactory to continue having people bring up recalls for members of our cabinet for reasons that a few have deemed "offensive". Especially when there is no formal standing where this latest issue took place. However my role in cabinet comes before my personal feelings so if it comes where I am need I shall do what is needed.

Yes I know that Kris. What I was saying is that Unibot has done is job perfectly well and there is no reason for him to be recall. I was saying that there is no reason to recall him however if you don't like him don't vote for him next time.

No. Unibot is still Chair of the Assembly and so he holds the vote.

Not to be rude because I really just want to slap you, but don't you think it might be just a little awkward for him to hold his own recall vote? Sheesh :-/

I don't know how you can tall Penguin as you are against this yourself. Also not to be rude or anything but I would quite like to slap you and many other people in TSP. I would give any names or any reason why I would like to slap you or anyone else but I do.

I also stand by what I said Unibot is still in change of the Assembly and so he MUST hold the vote not matter who's it is.

Just Because I'm personally against it doesn't mean that I cant professionally do my job. As Deputy chair it is my responsibility to step in when the actual chair cannot perform his duties. If you're going to make uninformed statements at least do so with manners.

That will be the end of all off-topic statements.

I agree that this is to be the end of off-topic statements but I would just like to say, how on earth can you accuse me of not using manners when you just said you would like to slap me ? However yes this is the end of off-topic discussions. If you want to continue then feel free to do so in a PM or a telegram in game.

[warn=unofficial]That was completely uncalled for. I am glad you both agreed to end it, but the point is that it shouldn't have started in the first place. Remember that this is a legislature, not NationStates General, and a certain degree of respect will always be expected.[/warn]

---

Speaking as a citizen, it is quite clear to me that Penguin can hold a vote instead of the Chair. That is precisely why she is Deputy Chair in the first place. I don't understand your reasoning for denying that, Punchwood. I have no doubt that Unibot will lead the vote with fairness, but at the same time I do not believe it is appropriate for anyone to oversee their own recall. It would be better for the Deputy Chair to hold it, as a matter of principle.

Furthermore, this argument is going in circles already. The recall will soon go to vote, and the Assembly will then decide whether Unibot should or lot be removed from office, regardless of how much we argue in here.
