Osiris
#111

I don't think the situation is "rapidly evolving". We've known for several days now that the legitimate government of Osiris has lost pretty much any hope of retaking the region. Cormac is moving forward with the establishment of his de facto dictatorship, as he said he would.

I think the Cabinet should condemn this behaviour and sever ties with Osiris until democratic government is restored. Such a statement would be very much "relevant to Osiris as it presently stands".

In the past few days alone: LKE and Euro have withdrawn from Osiris and ceased military operations; Revert, the second highest influence holder in Osiris, went from against the TG to neutral, and Zaolat, the third highest influence holder, went from neutral to Pro-TG; And, to top it off, a new Cabinet has been announced which includes six former Pharaohs.

So basically the resistance has little to no support from high influence nations, has little to no military support, and has little to no support from historical Osiris leadership. In other words, they're totally screwed.

Are we really going to lash ourselves to a sinking ship?

As long as we do the right thing. TSP should never support this farce.

Lets just withdrawal our embassy and issue a statement severing ties until the democratic process is restored to the region. It appears that military action is off the table unless you can persuade the other nations that have pulled out to join a coalition of some sort.

What embassy? What ties?

We could withdraw the in-game embassy if we wanted.

Otherwise, we have every few ties, which is why the Cabinet hasn't made a statement already. If the situation is stabilizing, great. It's still outside of our purview and getting to be more so, if our allies are pulling out.

My bad, I swear we didn't even have an embassy (in-game or forum) but it seems we have both.

As I've said before, I really don't see any reason to inject ourselves into this dispute.

I don't think we should be establishing any kind of enhanced relations with Osiris at this point, for the same reason we don't do so with NPO or TWP, but cutting relations would be both pointless and inconsistent. There are already several GCR's we have relations with that are less than democratic.

Cutting relations with Osiris because of a coup would actually be incredibly consistent! Isolation is not pointless.

Close embassies. Blacklist coup participants. Wash our hands of the whole region.
