Do you really think, China is the leader of the world?
I mean, there would also be countries like Russia, France and Germany (if not the majority of the entire EU) in the discussion...

After the U.S. departure from TPP and Paris, yes.

Well, if my former home, Margarita Island, ends up sinking in 50 years time, I'll know who to blame. Stupid orange prick. The guy had the nerve to say "nobody will laugh at us again". Wanna bet, Donald?

@Qvait: I wouldn't be so hard on those two. Nicaragua didn't sign because it wasn't strict enough (and its going to implement similar measures anyway). Syria, has... other things to worry about.

He said that he was elected by the people of Pittsburgh, not Paris. Well, the people of Pittsburgh voted for Clinton, so. The Republican talking point during the Obama Administration was that he made America a laughingstock. What a freaking joke. America was, is, and will be a laughingstock in the eight years preceding Obama and in the four years succeeding Obama.

I trust that all of you listened to the president's remarks.

The main thing to take from the Paris Accords withdrawal is that he isn't against environmental agreements, just ones that unfairly harm the US. Allowing India and China to advance their industries while curtailing ours is not the solution.

Knee-jerk reactions to environmental concerns isn't the way to proceed.

How is it "unfair" for America, exactly? To my knowledge every country has the same conditions to fulfill.

About the "kneejerk" part, we have reached the point where we have to take action now before we cause irreversible damage. It's pretty much imperative to reduce the amount of crap we pump into the atmosphere, so, not sure why is it "a kneejerk reaction".

It is not about America. It is about saving the world. Not everything has to be on the menu for just one nation. For all, or for none.

Unfair my ass. The US has been treating the world like their personal toy. That isn't to say that other countries have or are doing the same. But it is time we shape up as a nation and actually do something for this country, and the world.

I don't want another Beijing. I want a clean and safe world. So Trump can go to hell. He will only do more harm than good. He'll do no good at all.

Personal attacks against people is a bad way to base your opinions on policy. It should be based on facts and logic, not personal feelings.

The bottom line is that there is zero evidence that climate change is the immediate catastrophe that some claim it to be.

The scientists warned us that the seas were rising. They were right. The scientists warned us that the ice caps were melting. They were right. The scientists warned us that the temperatures were rising. They were right. In the history of the Earth, climate change occurred over the course of millennia. In this era, it has only been happening over the course of centuries, starting after the Industrial Revolution.

The truth of the matter is, climate change is an immediate catastrophe and people who live on coastlines or islands are feeling the immediate effects. There are people in Alaska who now have to relocate because their homes are being engulfed by the sea. The toxic particles that are being released into the air are ticking years off of people's life expectancy. If we don't take action now, it will be our children and our children's children who will be paying the price.

Every catastrophe should be avoided. Is it imminent? Some might say no. But is it a real possibility by scientific consensus? Absolutely.

In the very long-term, climate changes naturally. But that usually takes thousands, if not millions of years to happen so dramatically, not a fifth of a millenia. And it is such a coincidence that in this fifth of a millenia we have been industrializing like hell, is it not?

Civilization has existed for less than 10,000 years, yet we have drastically re-shaped the Earth into something unimaginable, and we take it for granted. If making animals extinct and ruining this planet is okay in your list, lemme know. Because that is insanely cruel.

If we want nations to literally sink to their deaths (all those island nations in the Pacific and The Netherlands), yeah, sure, pollute as you wish. You're just destroying nations in the long-term, and making Earth an unlivable planet. No big deal. Destroy The Netherlands, flood New York and all those coastal cities. No problem. Killing millions by climate change is not a big deal.

Besides, even if you deny the effects of climate change, it has been proven that pollution KILLS PEOPLE. Look at China. They have poor environmental standards and use coal as a primary source of energy. How many die because of excessive pollution? Deadly smog is not good for the lungs, y'know?

Let us leave a worse world for our descendents. Because we all know money and big bucks now, plus national pride, always go over global stability later.

Tell that to the people of the Marshall Islands. There's also Tuvalu, the Maldives, Palau... all those little island nations which could sink into the ocean in the not so distant future.

And again, how is the Paris Accord unfair to America?
