Burn it all
#1

Today I had an epiphany that we need to tear everything up. This watered down GC that we made to please Roavin is not going to accomplish anything substantial over its entire lifespan if we keep at this rate. We need to burn it all. We have serious problems in TSP that are just never going to be addressed. Right now we are only 2 months into the GC, but we will be 6 months in before you know it and we are going to have accomplished nothing.

We don't have to replace every law. We don't have to rip up every single part of the Charter. But if we want to create a better TSP for the people who will eventually take our places in this region then we need to work to that instead of having the only thing we accomplished here be some minor reform to ministry names.

Let's do it. For a better TSP.

I want a better TSP; and that was one of the forefronts of my campaign. However, what exactly do you want to do? Abolish the Great Council (and start from scratch in the idea of constitutional conventions)? Well, we kind of already tried to do that. Ahem, I tried to do that, and that is where I only garnered support of Tsunamy, per the last time I checked.

"Burn it all" is probably not the best choice of a thread title, though I suppose the "Abolish the Local Council" guy can't really talk.

I will repeat what I previously said, though:

I don’t think rewriting all of our laws would help. In fact, it would just bring up more and more disagreements, which is what we don’t need. Burn it all? Maybe not. Serious reform? Sure.

Robust debate over comprehensive reform of our institutions is exactly what we need right now. That is why we called this Great Council.

And we can't have real comprehensive reform without burning it all, shredding all our laws. When people have a failsafe or a fallback, they will cling to that instead of venturing out away from safety. We need to burn our boats, burn our bridges. No going back, because being back there is why we called this Great Council in the first place.

It's funny how after we called a GC to revise our laws we start finding that many of our laws are fine, and instead of thinking about if anything else might be the problem we immediately assume it's because the GC is too weak, made in a way that encourages people to stick to stuff that works, and that we should revise the GC to force people to discuss changing everything.

When did we start finding our laws are fine? Rejecting possible solutions doesn't mean we decided there aren't problems

Don't get too far ahead of yourself. A majority of GC participants still voted in favor of abolishing the LC.
