Re-thinking Article 1 of the COL
#11

This is a good change. Finely detailed and organized. Even the simplest of minds could understand this organized, detailed article amendment. I support this.

I like this change, no issues from me.

It's been my perspective that new players struggle to understand laws when they're divided into large omnibus bills - and so something like the "Elections Act" might help them organise our laws into their head.

I agree with Unibot...And then Hell froze over.

I think that with the new edits, this is much easier to read and interpret. It's also much more organized and pleasing to the eye, especially with adding the categories. I would also support this.

I'd prefer a separate act, but this is also an improvement Happywide

Since we are discussing this, do we want a single Code of Laws, or do we want to have separate acts?

What does turning it into a separate act achieve?

It makes our election law more accessible to new citizens.

I do think a single Code of Laws is better than a bunch of separate acts, because it means you don't have to search through the forums to find out what the law is. However, our existing code is confusing and could be better organized. With the possibility of a Great Council happening, I've actually started reorganizing the Code of Laws, so that things are organized by subject matter. For example, this particular article has many subjects: Cabinet elections, judicial elections, vacancies, run-off elections, how to qualify for the ballot, COI disclosures, who runs elections, and when they're run and for how long.

The original idea was that the current format would be easier to read and understand. But we keep making it longer, and it's become unwieldy. I think a more formalized format, akin to the real-world US Code, would make things much easier to read. I plan on releasing my suggested reformatting when a Great Council is held. I think that's the easiest way to go about it. If we're going to hold a Great Council anyways, it may be a waste of time to do this right now.

How is that any more accessible than it is right now?
