Southern Socialist Union: 1st Constitutional Convention
#1
Brick
Now begins the meeting of every nation member of the Southern Socialist Union, also known as the SSU.

The objectives of this convention are confirming the structure and defining the content of the soon to be Charter of the Southern Socialist Union. That's why the main points to deal with are the following:

  1. Nature of this organization.
  2. Purposes, mission and goals of this organization.
  3. Way of running this organization. Be it by a president, central committee, council or other means; as well as elections and terms.
  4. Membership, requirements for the accession, rights and responsibilities.
  5. Ways and means of cooperation.
  6. Punitive actions and even punishment.
  7. Form of amendment process.

Note: Here is where the drafts must be presented, fixed and ratified for the production of the official  charter.

On the matter of running the alliance: a central committee or council would, in my opinion, work the nest for the purposes of this organization.

Sporaltryus believes that a draft of the Charter should be first written by the Voodoo People's Republic of Bruuma.

Agreed.

VPRB, can you write a basic draft to deal with the mentioned points so we can have something more malleable to work with?

I did not include elections and terms as I believe all Parties should be equal in their Role. Punitive actions and even punishment I believe shoud be discussed collectively.

Thanks for such collaboration. Now we can truly begin discussing its content together.

After carefully reading the First Draft, especially the Prologue and the Articles 1, 2 and 3; I consider essential to define "Socialism" beforehand to avoid confusion and misconceptions by third parties with concepts such as communism or totalitarianism. Hence, I recommend the originally proposed one in the Social Contract by Jean-Jacques Rousseau:

Implicit agreement among the members of a society to cooperate for social benefits, for example by sacrificing some individual freedom for state protection.

To clarify, a difference with Communism is that Socialism calls for EQUITY of opportunities (a floor to begin developing) instead of EQUALITY of wealth (limiting rooftop for development). Therefore, Socialism accepts individual property and personal growth.
Also, regarding Totalitarianism, Socialism only requires a part of the personal liberties to avoid anarchy, not the full extent of them; such is considered an abuse of power and an insult to the name "Socialist".

I propose these concepts and clarifications to be considered in the Prologue.

I believe that a clause defining the method by which this charter can be changed is needed.
