"I see... when your peoples came together, I reckon it didn't take long to begin testing potential methods of FTL travel?"

RE: IIN Interview Broadcasts - Qwert - 08-02-2018

"Two things contributed to the relatively fast development of FTL travel. The amphibians, having known for long that they were not alone in the universe due to the evidence scattered all over their planet and in orbit, had focused on coming together as a civilisation and develop space flight. Also contributing was learning of the insectoids' mistakes long ago and the fatal consequences, but also how crucial it is to settle other planets to secure the survival of your species. FTL travel was both more or less the single goal of a curious civilisation, and a perceived necessity for survival.

The fact that our minds function rather differently provided us with valuable different perspectives and solutions that we could combine too."

"Wisely put.  Provided those worlds are not inhabited by intelligent life in some manner, it is crucial to have an offworld population in order to ensure that one's species does not die out.  From what our Palace correspondents have told us, your method of interstellar travel is quite different from our own, despite having a similar name."

RE: IIN Interview Broadcasts - Qwert - 08-03-2018

"That is correct. It contracts, or warps, space in front of the vessel and expands it behind, thereby, in essence, making the distance shorter.

For those that might wonder what the experience is like compared to your drive, there are no documented cases of your mind being specifically affected, but if you have eyes and the possibility to look out a window or similar just as the drive is engaged, there is a magnificent display of beams of different colours, perahps best described as an orderly spectral explosion."

RE: IIN Interview Broadcasts - Pax Dracon - 08-03-2018

"That sounds like it would inspire many artists who travel abroad, no doubt.  Have there been documented photographs of this phenomena, in addition to data on the speeds of your warp drives?"

RE: IIN Interview Broadcasts - Qwert - 08-03-2018

"Yes, you are correct that this phenomenon inspires our artists. However, in my opinion nothing beats the live experience. There are actually specialised 'warp artists' that perform live shows in certain ships by using unconventional manoeuvres and engine settings."

RE: IIN Interview Broadcasts - Pax Dracon - 08-03-2018

"Certainly sounds like something I would pay good credits to see.  Are there any particular artists who have earned great fame from these feats that you would recommend to our audience?"

RE: IIN Interview Broadcasts - Qwert - 08-03-2018

"There are a few that are quite well-known in the Star Empire, but I do not think it would be appropriate for me to advertise for them here, not to give them an unfair advantage over fellow artists. But given the opportunity, I am sure many would be willing to tour your Empire."

RE: IIN Interview Broadcasts - Pax Dracon - 08-03-2018

"We would welcome them with open arms, should they wish.  Providing patronage to artists ensures the growth and expansion of culture across nations.  The universities and flight academies would surely be eager to offer these crews artist-in-residence positions, in addition to scientists wanting to experience your warp drives in person."

RE: IIN Interview Broadcasts - Qwert - 08-03-2018

"And the Drakari would equally welcome to us!"
