High... Priest?
By Summer Nuess

HA'HANI A little while ago, the interim Council of Priestesses of FiHami had selected a new leading figure for the united Finixi tribes.  Their selection, however, shocked the nation and sparked equal amounts protest and celebration from various groups.

22-year-old Skai Ofiri was appointed last month as the High Priest of the United Finixi tribes following a year's gap since ex-High-Priestess Shi-Huah Tikili was executed following kidnapping almost 300 people, including the late Ha'Coron' Finix Fi'Shi, and resulting in several dead.  Many are celebrating this "unusual" appointment because of the untraditional measure of the appointment.

"Realizing that Ha'Finix was selecting a man to serve as High Priest was a shock on us all."  One of the mmembers of the interim council, Sirina Ifi, told the Ha'Hani Times Post.  "None of us really believed that Ha'Finix would select a man, especially one so low-profile as him.  But, the signs were all there."

"Skai's Appointment is really a leap forward in our culture and times.  We knew that when Ha'Finix walked the Earth, it always advocated for true equality in our culture.  And we knew that even in the past, as far back as our recorded history goes, Ha'Finix never discriminated between male or female.  Ha'Finix only ever went after the most able to listen to its ordinances."  An online personality mentioned in a Stream post.

However, with the voices in support of this controversial move, also come the voices against this move.

"Men are just simply not skilled enough to handle the tasks assigned to the High Priestess.  They are too violent.  Ha'Finix would never choose anyone with so much blood on their hands."  Another Stream poster commented.

When asked about the controversy, Ofiri seemed less worried that others.

"I don't worry about whether my appointment was 'correct' by the standard of people.  The only voice that mattered was that of Ha'Finix, and Ha'Finix spoke."

Only time will tell if this controversy grows with the Prime Minister elections or fades away.
