TODAY IN FIHAMI NEWS

-Seismologic activity continues, evacuations extended to a few unnamed settlements (pop. <20) just outside of Ha'Hani.

-A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Island earlier today, just about 1km north-west of Ha'Hani. High Priestess Shi'Huah Tikili said, "The old regime is trying to rise again, Ha'Finix said so. This storm is coming to get rid of the hateful impure old regime."
Seismologist Dr. Kane Tucker of the University of Ha'Hani has issued a statement, saying, "This isn't some religious doomsday scenario, it's just a volcano. Everyone can remain calm, proper measures have been taken to ensure that FiHamians stay safe."

-Despite the volcano danger, FiHami's teams have been chosen, and will begin to train for the FWC.

-Empress Finix the Unknown has issued a decree from Tikiri'i City Hall today to make name changes for Native Finixians affected by the old regime free of charge with no public hearing. Non-native Finixians are still required to pay the F200 (US $20) dollar fee and attend a public hearing before name change goes into effect.
"The invading southerners had stripped us of our rights, our names, and our traditions. They slaughtered us to make room for themselves. Native Finixians now are only 25% of the population, when before we were the only ones here. Taking away these restrictions will help at least reclaim our lost names. With time, we can recover what it is to be Finixian again."
The Empress adds sternly, "But we will never return the treatment either. We will remain gracious and allow foreigners in to FiHami. We will treat them respectfully. We will not, however, let another group take away our identities ever again."

-Festivities for the month-long celebration of "Ha'Fi kikuskani Turantan" is underway despite danger in Ha'Hani. This will be the first year since 1932 that the beginning of the cyclonic season will be celebrated.

BREAKING NEWS 24/5/2019- The government of FiHami has declared crisis following the sudden disappearance of the Empress.

Empress Finix the Unknown, 17, has been declared missing after Benjamin Owens, 47, went into the office to deliver paper.

"I am shocked. There was blood everywhere. Her desk was a mess." Owens stated. "Whatever happened in that room, there's one thing for sure: they've just messed with the gills of this country."

Authorities are investigating the incident. Chief crime investigator Kristie Dunbar has also spoken following the initial investigation.
"We've been having a surge in people going missing as of late, in the confusion between mass evacuations and political upheaval. But we know that whatever happened, our Empress left us a major clue to the terrorist's identity- a bloody nametag. Very likely yanked from the terrorist's shirt, then used as a weapon."

"We don't have parliament in place yet. We don't have a clear line of succession yet. We just have the Empress and... and that [redacted] priestess!" Shouted an angry bystander on the street.

"We need better security surrounding government buildings and officials too. It's a necessary cost." said police Gale Brett. "We could prevent any future incidents."

High Priestess Shi'Huah Tikili will oversee FiHamian government until Empress Finix is found. Tikiri'i City Hall is closed to the public until further announcements.

Individuals with any information regarding the incident are encouraged to call 200-3-99-99-99-9 and leave a report.

-FiHami seismologists have determined that geologic activity is decreasing. Citizens will be allowed to return to Ha'Hani by Tuesday.

-Empress Finix the Unknown has earned the title, "Holy", by several priests around the island. Renown native Finixian artist Phillip Hammond reportedly has started work on a sculpture of the missing Empress.

-High Priestess Shi'Huah Tikili has decreed that she saw a vision where, reportedly, "6-armed men have kidnapped 300 people and thrown them into Ri-Ha'Fi-nix and Ha'Fi rose from its home and avenged the deaths of those who have been kidnapped." Tikili has declared herself the new Empress of FiHami despite no evidence of burn marks, reporting the vision said that she would be the Empress to "save the country from the damage such a young child would make."
Officials are still investigating the 297 missing persons reports, including Empress Finix the Holy.

-With the wave of international culture flooding FiHami, youths are taking music and adding native Finixian elements to their music, creating a new musical sensation in FiHami known as Finixi'sonk. Using native instruments with modern instruments, groups like Ha'Fi Raging and Rafat Huah'Huah are quickly rising to celebrity status.
High Priestess Shi'Huah Tikili has condemned this music, making motions to attempt to arrest the artists if it continues, "For the sanctity of native Finixian culture".

-Has FiHami, an organization that promotes FiHami-made products, has put financial backing on the first FiHami-made car company, Kiota-Ha to develop an affordable car with at least 30 miles per gallon.

"Most FiHamians don't make much money. Average income is about F300,000 (about $30,000 USD) per year. They drive old foreign-sourced cars worth about F100,000 (about $10,000 USD) that only get like 15-20 miles per gallon. Over time, since FiHamians run their cars to the literal ground[...] I want to see FiHami in fuel-efficient cheaper cars comparable to other nation's cars." Spokesman Jared King said in an interview with The FiHami Tribune earlier today.

-With the sudden vacancy for High Priestess of FiHami, several people have come forward claiming supernatural connection to Ha'Finix. Traditionally, the post passes on from mother to daughter. However, ex-High Priestess Shi'Huah Tikili had no descendants of her own, so an unprecedented race for the posituon commences.

The High Priestess is traditionally in charge of communing with Ha'Finix and guiding others spiritually to lead a fulfilling life. Tikili's service is unprecedented in how often she used her role to gain political power, even declaring herself Empress towards the end.

Tikili served from 2012-2019. She was born November 3rd, 1967 to High Priestess Ara Tikili, and was apprentice to the High Priestess from 1977 to 2012, when the elder Tikili mysteriously died. The younger Tikili is the oldest of 10 siblings, and the longest surviving. If convicted of current charges, Tikili would be sentenced to death for high treason, kidnapping, homicide, and abuse of position.

-Secret Service agents reported evidence of "Ri'ki-Terir", or the act of placing explosives in the ground to simulate earthquakes. This practice has been declared punishable by death since the chiefdoms due to the risk of setting off the volcano and environmental damage it causes.

-Tikiri'i mayor Gladys Folk has begun putting together funding for higher security government buildings, urging the other 3 major FiHamian cities to do the same.

"Look what happened to our Empress. We cannot risk repeating the same mistakes again. We cannot risk losing Flamethrowers that could have been spent on security to protect FiHami government officials. It costs more to investigate than to prevent." Gladys told The Ha'Hani Times Post. "It would make it much easier to prevent the crimes, and for the crimes that do happen, it will be much easier to investigate."

-The hashtag "#FWChasFiHami" has become a trending tag in social media following sudden overwhelming support for the event. Many riled-up fans have begun chains of chants in Finixian, demanding that the mens and womens teams of FiHami only communicate in Finixian, demanding unified national pride, and pushing for a national flag to be designed and adopted. The tag "#BannerKiFiHami" is quickly gaining social media ground as well, with many citizens designing national flags in native Finixian style, incorporating important Finixian history and mythology, and some more abstract designs.

-Residents of Ha'Hani are grateful to be back in their homes after the geologic warnings were lifted. Total damages totalled about $200,000 dollars, about the total worth of the only house that was damaged by the 4.2 magnitude Earthquake caused by possible "Ri-ki Terir".

-Investigators have come across possible evidence of an entire network of political fugitives based on a half-burned letter found 200 meters from the camp where the 297 victims were found. The telegram, written in English, depict communication about "overthrow... natives... kill". Sender is unknown.

-About 270 victims of the 283 surviving victims have been medically cleared and discharged from the Hospital of Hani. They have returned to their homes to rest from what is sure to have been a traumatic experience. [i]Ofi ki Hani/i], a long-standing relief organization reliant entirely on donations, have put forth the funds to pay for every medical expense and therapy for all the victims. A total of F14.3M (US $1.4M) has been raised specifically for the victims at home and abroad.

-The massive "Football Fever" that has struck FiHami grows bigger with the Women's team winning their first game. Kids in particular have been spam-messaging the FWC teams when they can with messages of support and pictures of themselves playing Football. Employers have reported a surge of productivity from their workers. This phenomenon has recieved the name "Football Fever".

-The kickoff event to Ha'Fi kikuskane turantan will begin June 1st, with Ra-Turantan and Kiko Ra-Turantan. The dancers this year are professional native Finixian dancers Rinami and Kurika Kokostali'ifi, twin sisters who began dancing when they were 4. They embraced their talents and brought Native Finixian danceforms to new heights throughout their 15 year long career, performing traditional dances for cultural celebrations and free-dancing for the public.

-FiHami's newly employed meteorology team has teamed up with the newly developing space program to develop "RSS-P" or "Rafat Si Sistem-Porope" for FiHami's first weather satellite. Scientists are hoping that the satelite will help aid in the study of meteorology in FiHami as well as provide much better preparedness for potential cyclones.

Update-
29/5/19

FiHami Empress Finix the Holy has been reported in stable condition.

The Empress has demanded that visitors be allowed to visit her until she is medically cleared.

"First off, regarding the kidnappings, they will not get away with hurting almost 300 FiHamians. The 14 that were lost will not have died in vain. These terrorists will suffer!
To the internet situation. We have just recieved internet for the first time. Our internet will catch up to those of the best nations! The fact that y'all suddenly love football enough to break the internet basically... that's great! Which brings me to the 3rd and last thing I want to discuss. What a KNOCKOUT game! To the women on our women's team, you guys did EXCELLENTLY! Keep up the momentum! And yes Tracey, we will get better internet soon.
And just because I'm in a hospital room right now doesn't mean that I won't be working to solve FiHamian issues. Nothing can stop me from serving this nation except death itself."

Medical professionals will continue to keep an eye on the Empress.

The other 12 victims of the kidnappings have been medically cleared and allowed to go home.

29/5/2019

Haniweb servers have come back online. However, the damage has been done. Many FiHamians have since migrated to larger platforms.

"Haniweb was never meant to handle huge spam events anyways. The entire purpose of Haniweb is to be a sort of introductory social media for FiHamians to learn how to use the internet. The relative success of Haniweb, over 400,000 downloads now, is incredible for me." Reports the creator of the popular social media platform.

BREAKING NEWS

After returning home following the defeat of FiHami in the FWC and expulsion from professional football, Tracey Holmes has been found dead in her appartment, cause of death was apparent poisoning.

The football star left a suicide note detailing all her struggles and what ultimately caused her suicide.

Holmes has no living relatives.

"This suicide brings to light that many native Finixians are struggling with severe mental health issues and brings Finixian suicide rates to the forefront. Compared to other races living in FiHami, Finixians have a 32% suicide rate whereas other races average 2-4%. Over 70% of Finixians have seen therapists or psychologists. 87% of Finixians report addiction problems. Of those in therapy, 93% of Finixians are diagnosed with PTSD. In contrast, for those of other races, about 16% seek therapy, 20% report addiction problems, and 2% are diagnosed with PTSD. If we included other mental health issues, that percentage rises to about 34%. The bottom line is that native Finixians are suffering despite the current change of regime. The Empress is offering blanket solutions, but we need long-term solutions." Reports Psychologist Thomas Miller, who specializes in trauma-related issues.

"Today's loss is a tragedy, and I'm not talking about the FWC. Holmes was a good person, a true humanitarian. She, like anyone else, had her vices. She was, most of all, a warrior, one that has fought for FiHami all her life. A dear friend, and someone who will be dearly missed." Was Empress Finix the Holy's message on the matter.

The note can be read here->
