As the RPNV Raika sailed past, Captain Ko looked at the weather from the stern. It was nice, the seas were pushing them along, and not against the ship. He saw the seagulls that fly past and the dolphins that jumped along. It was a good day. Sailors were looking at the sea while chatting with their loved ones, it would be a while until they are sent home. The standard issue tablets was certainly beneficial for this, and sailing by the rainbow islands provided enough signal to communicate home.

The Captain closed his eyes and felt the breeze of the sea of the South Pacific. The smell of wet seaweed, salt and the air of winter. Dancing around him to welcome him back from the trecherous waters outside the region. He tries to enjoy the moment, but to no avail, his mind clouded on the expedition and the effort they would have to do.

Christies trench... The deepest point in the South Pacific and home of the unknown. The high and mighty volcanoes of the Rainbow Island was birthed from this very point, the most volatile subduction zone. He remembered the colossal impact it had in Erinor years ago, how the mighty Erinorian capital crumbled to rubble due to the high velocity of the zones. The area is a bed of earthquakes, tsunami and typhoons, so one needs to thread lightly.

Captain Ko expected that the winter would also prove a problem. Icebergs from the north pacific may slide unto the area and halt the expedition. Icebergs seem small but they are monoliths that submerged down in the depths. Needless to say, these are harsh and fierce waters. Not to ignore, the creatures that lurk beneath the trench.

The South Pacific is a region that's defined by the sea, and if any Paeonisian seafarer would know, is that the sea is kind and ruthless, unknown and certainly surprising. Not even the Sedunnic cartographers or the Brutland and Norden oceanologists could fully data the creatures down under, and legends from FiHami certainly makes it a chilling tale.

The ship continued to sail, carrying the two sonar drones to locate the signal of the black box. The researchers inside the RPNV Raika continued to work through the night piecing together what's known once more.
