As she sipped the transparent liquid, Su pulled out her personal communicator, and showed its technology. It was from the Holocelia company, a private manufacturer of these items. It was a circular ring that was the size of her palm, convenient for individual usage and carrying.

She went to the "product manual", a handy holotext containing the functions, range, capibilities, and the instructions on how to adequately utilize this device. She began to explain to the Governor in detail.

"This is a Ryccian holocommunicator, often called a "holophone", from the prestigious Holocelia company. Due to my financial standing and to properly do my duties, it is a state-of-the-art device, able to instantaneously contact my government from the push of a button, even in here. Due to its complicated and costly technologies, it is but a commercial item for the elite, and mine has been specifically configured to assist me in my diplomatic work. Cheaper versions of this artifact allow you to do the same this one does, but with reduced capibilities, yet it is sufficient for the masses, as they are cost-effective despite allowing contact throughout the entire Empire with minimal effort. If you are desperately poor, the cheapest options cost the same as a bag of chips, a cheap snack invented by humans, but they break more often than those of higher quality. Thus, it is an accessible item for all, from the downtrodden to the ultra wealthy"

She then pulled a small antennae-looking device from her pocket, and connected it to her holocommunicator.

"I have brought my personal connectivity router, which is quite convenient for accessing an Empire's worth of data in our interstellar wide web, also known as the "holonet". In normal circumstances, where I would be in Ryccian territory, I can just use the data plan provided by my holocommunicator holonet company, but I am far from their coverage area, as you can see. Thus, I require this little router here. Here, we can search anything we desire, but for the purposes of this meeting, we shall not make use of it, as it shall be a needless tangent from our allocated responsibilities"

"This model charges itself with its own miniature fusion battery, as most holocommunicators do, excellent for long periods of usage. You only need to insert a harmless elemental gas of your liking, and the process shall take place. If you have no such resources, there is a wireless charging option, where the facility may provide this small artifact with energy. This does make the battery life shorter, but it is an useful, temporary remedy should you require it"

"So, as you can see, Governor, we have the proper tools for our communication across the stars. It will be of the upmost importance for our nation's engineers to work on a mutual communication device, should our technologies be incompatible for some reason, but I doubt it, as we managed to communicate regardless at the border"
