(IC) What happened to Flight HIA 402?

Roll 4: Livin' La Vida Loca!!

(The winds are calm and the weather is nice. The Winstonian radars detect no anomalies.)

The Anserisan flagship, the FAA Princio-Stéphano I moves closer to the site laid out in the Izaakian shared map, anchors, away, they sailed to the location and prepped the first deep sea expedition. To further increase their chances of finding the black box, a helicopter was launched off the boat carrying soldiers that would look for any clues in the islands surrounding Christies trench. As the blades danced over the sea, a seagull managed to hit the rear rotor and massacred itself in the process. Unable to balance due to a failing rotor, the helicopter called for mayday, before crashing in island 1.08. It is unknown whether there are survivors.

Meanwhile, the Izaakian planes had already purged the fuel systems from water. Any air vehicles are now operational. The arrival of Empress Astrid in Winston Island was welcomed with many surprises, the First Minister herself was away in Valkyria and would not be able to meet the Empress in person, however, her secretary was available, and within minutes, the Empress managed to gain a dossier filled with the radar and sonar results from the Winstonian radars. As well as the current locations of vessels in the area, which would definitely help the expedition mark the location of vessels involved. Meanwhile, the RV Iceberg and the RV DeepBlue managed to have a major break, they managed to further triangulate the location of the black box, narrowing the search area and retaining a much more accurate map.

However, the search by the Rombold and Jolly Roger not only failing to come up with the decisive data, but their ships also hit a stray iceberg. Their hulls are damaged and must come back to base without finishing their search. As the water started to pour in, the captains hope that they would be able to return back safely. As for The Royal Yacht and the HMS Stingray they had tried to search the western area of Christies eye, and the increasingly high waves disallow them to continue on further, they have to return back to their forward camp for the day. Meanwhile, the HMS Manta Ray stood hidden near Yokonawa Island, and tries to intercept messages and signals from the other expedition. They are unable to crack the encrypted messages, mostly due to the fact that a pelican had nested in their radar systems, thus breaking apart the signals. However, before the error, they managed to pull out a scrambler, although some encrypted message systems can still go through, a lot of messages radioed from other expeditions seem to play “Livin’ La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin as a method to dampen message quality and scramble radio signals.

Back at base, following the great unearthing of a more specific location of The Black Box, the HMS Beluga had set up radio receivers to further pinpoint the location of the black box. Further increasing the detail of the map, but the signals are continuously defeated by their own scrabmblers and inaccuracies occur. The HMS StingRay had sent surface teams to the islands to look for survivors, but as they sailed along, their engines suddenly died and was taking on water, apparently, there were leaks in the fuel tanks, and all five ships are stranded in the middle of the ocean, and would need immediate rescuing

As the Holy Free entered the Winston Island for refuel, the HMS Sonny did a false manoeuvre and crashed unto the pier of the docks and sinking the harbourmaster’s private boat. Enraged, the harbourmaster refused to allow the HMS Sonny to dock in their area. Without a forward base, they would need to ask one of the expeditions to allow use. They tried to sail near Deep Island to look for survivors, but they did not have enough fuel. The HMS Sonny sat like ducks near the coast of Winston Island with bad rapport with the harbour master. As the chaos of low fuel plagued the crew, back at home, counter-intelligence revealed that the map had indeed been manipulated by the Izaakians. Apparently, the head investigator took a look at the map and shouted “Are you serious? This was painted using microsoft paint! Any moron could know this is fake.” The Holy Free expedition, after hearing the news, realized that the Izaakians have bamboozled the expedition efforts, and thought that maybe they were the ones behind their radio continue playing La Vida Loca. They were interested in punishing them because a piece of background information was requested by the Holy Free to Huawan Intercontinental Airlines, the info was given relating to the pilots of the HIA 402, however the data didn’t come through due to the song, and the transmitters needed a major rebooting to get rid of the effects of the scrambler.

Those that do not learn history is bound to repeat them, and apparently the Besern navy seemed to ignore the message. In order to assist the beached patrol vessels, the Besernian navy sent the BCGS Apilion and the BCGS Feinesport to tow the ships out of the coral reef. They managed to barely avoid being beached, but the tow was not enough to get the two vessels out. Meanwhile the BCGS Cenche carried welders to fix the hull of the two ships, enough for them to sail back to base for a full repair, but high waves caused the BCGS to arrive later than scheduled. Back at Besern, the Besernian Civil Aviation Administration had seeked partnership elsewhere and cooperated with Brient Technological University. After scanning previous data, they found out that it might be improbable that the Finixian air control towers simply do not have data regarding the flight, there was too much of a gap. A possibility arose, that the plane had flown lower to the point that they would not be detected by aerial radar. Another cooperation with Ostrovia University was also a success, and a conclusion rose that the HIA 402 possibly tried a water landing off Christies Trench, which, if succeeded might explain the lack of noise. However several investigators denounced the conclusion made by OU, saying that a wreckage would more than likely be identifiable in a couple of days if a water landing occurred.

The Private Besernian Expedition had caught a signal and tried to find it. Only to be bamboozled by an unknown signal playing La Vida Loca, unbeknownst to them, they were hit by Izaakian scramblers, and are unable to pinpoint the signal. At Winston Island, The Besernian Minister of Transport asked for further information regarding the signal, it was then that the Peonic Minister of Transport, Zuuko Yamanashi, contacted the Minister from Huawan, and unveiled the proper nature of the events transpired from top to bottom, a full report was in his possession along with promises that The Peocracy shall share any information they could with the Besernians. (See Peonic Exposition regarding the nature of events). As for the second expedition, they were battered with strong winds and vicious waves, their arrival is expected to come late at 5 days time.

As for the Royal Peonic Expedition, the base building was a success and the Peonic team had a proper headquarters. However the team did not have enough land for a runway, and proper access for manned aircraft recons in their forward base, they would have to find another way to get to the air. The Ocean Buoys laid out by the RPV Katsugawa were placed and stable, along with the radars, the buoys allow the expedition to prepare for future massive currents. The preparation to launch the RPNV Raika was also halted, due to the ship’s inability to stock up on supplies when docking back at ZhangHai, food and water levels are low and needed to be restocked, which would take an extra day before the ship could set sail. Back in the RPNV Sakura, as the briefing was ending, both Captain Ko and Investigator Zahra pressed The Peony regarding the redacted documents on the HIA 402.
