[DISCUSSION] [2223.AP] Citizenship reform |
In the spirit of a reform I attempted to pass in 2020, I am reviving it because I believe we need to start defining our citizens as citizens and not as “members”. I hope that it would interest my fellow citizens to enact such a reform or one similar to it so we can stop calling citizens “members”. Instead of using residents and citizens as descriptors as I did then, perhaps we can use citizens (superceding members) and registered citizens or citizens registered to vote (superceding legislators) as descriptors. To accompany this reform, we could also rename our regional legislature as the Citizens’ Assembly. If we do have a Great Council, I will be pursuing this reform there as well to make sure whatever constitutional document comes out of it incorporates this reform.
Isn’t that just a bunch of name changes?

That was fixed by other means, though, meaning this proposal is essentially reduced to a bunch of name changes. I did support this back when it was an issue, because at the time (at least in my opinion) it was the best solution to the problem, but if it's just going to be a bunch of name changes then I'm not supporting this.
Oh so as I see it, citizens become all people with WA nations in the region plus all Legislators?

Ok I feel like that act needs to be simplified and uh, shorter as well. So I've thought about it and what if we have a reptilian in our region, didn't think about what the proposal said, so no context.

@'The Allied States of Bistritza', only native WA members and SPSF members are able to vote in LC elections.

Legislatorship also opens up the ability to participate as a... legislator? The Assembly is composed of Legislators, not Citizens... I get that "Assembly of Citizens Registered to Vote" doesn't have much of a ring to it, but I think "Assembly" is fine as-is to convey its role as a legislative body.
