I'm kinda meh on the "should elections happen simultaneously or not" thing, although I don't think they suck away interest from one another. One can make the argument that following multiple elections simultaneously can be rather overwhelming for an average Legislator, but YMMV.

It does create a burden on the EC to run two elections side-by-side (remember the barrage of special elections we had earlier in the year?) and might cause inherent burnout issues for the position, so that should probably be kept in mind.

On the other hand, the EC needing to run multiple separate discontinuous elections is a real issue. I think the special elections example goes the other way: the EC regularly officiates elections for 5 positions at one time (the PM + 4 Ministers), but needing to run a greater quantity of elections per year is far more added strain.

Maybe we should ask the current EC on the burden of running them concurrently or one after another. Having seen the drag out from endless election cycles on the rmb, I would think one and done would be less taxing on all those involved.
