Burn it all

/...And It Will Rise From The Ashes Of Its Past By Kháos/ The thread name is a parody yet unintentionally very fitting for the forum transfer.

I will repeat what I previously said, though:

I don’t think rewriting all of our laws would help. In fact, it would just bring up more and more disagreements, which is what we don’t need. Burn it all? Maybe not. Serious reform? Sure.
Robust debate over comprehensive reform of our institutions is exactly what we need right now. That is why we called this Great Council.

And what exactly has this Great Council done?

I'm not saying that everything is completely fine, obviously. What I am saying is that it's nonsensical to decide that because the Great Council hasn't agreed to do any massive change to the laws so far, there must be something wrong with the great council, rather than just the Great Council doesn't think these massive changes would be good or helpful, or that the underlying laws behind those changes are fine.

I think part of this is because the main issue on everyone's minds seem to be about activity in the rest of government (ignoring the fact that this Great Council is in itself a great source of activity for one of the most popular activities in nationstates) which just isn't something you can legislate in after a certain extent. Sure, your changes specifically to the cabinet becoming partially/fully appointed in a way (for example) might make a good difference, but beyond that legal structure it's up to the actual people to provide that activity, and massive sweeping reforms don't tend to hold up for very long or very well.
