Issue #71: West sets out presidential goals

STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — Earlier, presidential nominee Gabriel West had set out goals that he would like to accomplish during his possible 2015–16 presidential term. He said, "It is my intent to fix the current problems existing in Qvait and issues abroad." Initially, West supported the Buzinsky Administration, but on 3 July, he said, "Buzinsky has turned Qvait into a quasi-socialist nation," despite the fact that the majority of the Qvaitican people are members of the United Conservative Party.

In a press conference on 13 October, West said that he wants to repeal a number of the "socialist" bills that Buzinsky has passed and would like to bring back the trust of corporations in the government. Furthermore, he wants to appoint an ambassador to the South Pacific should he be elected. "I seek to become involved in the South Pacific, and continue [the Secretary of Transportation Stephen] Weissmüller's plan to build a highway system on the Western Continent." West said that global trade will be one of several major highlights of his term, should he be elected.

Issue #72: Backlash after West set out goals

STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — Late last night, President Jasper Henn of Sporaltryus made a strong statement about the consequences that would occur if Conservative presidential nominee Gabriel West repealed anti-business bills signed by incumbent Dmitri Buzinsky. However, West came striking back calling Sporaltryus a hegemony and other conservatives such as former Presidents Victor Cutter and Johnathon Victor scolded Henn for the remarks.

Members of the United Conservative Party

The top members of the United Conservative Party (UCP) held a press conference with presidential nominee Gabriel West, vice presidential nominee Dominic Frost, 1st President Cutter, 3rd President Victor, and 1st Vice President Bronson Forester. Cutter said, "It's mainly up to the people represented in the House of Representatives whether to repeal the socialist bills at the consequence of severing ties with Sporaltryus." He went on to say that the people would most likely do so, because over 80% of the Qvaitican people are conservative and anti-socialist. Frost said, "I believe that it was a mistake to sign a treaty with Sporaltryus."

On the other hand, the Left, consisting of the Democratic Party, Socially Democratic Party, and the banned Constitutional Socialist Party of Qvait (CSPQ), have voiced support for Henn's remarks. Democratic presidential nominee Shawn Euron said, "I believe that Henn is right. We have to subsidize companies and corporations to make sure that everyone will benefit from them." However, many Qvaiticans had voiced their opposition to Euron's statement through social media, while supporting the UCP. It seems that after April 2015, the treaties that Qvait and Sporaltryus signed, may be repealed.

Issue #73: Health screenings begin at Qvaitican airports, ships

STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — Following a disease outbreak in the West African region, the Qvaitican Congress passed a bill to require health screenings at airports and seaports. Senator David Welles said, "Nowadays, the world is a dangerous place, and we want to make sure that no one in Qvait becomes a victim of the outbreak." In a related bill, Congress also passed a law to strengthen the nation's border patrol to make sure that people infected with the disease is not sneaking into the country.

The disease was given a 70% fatality rate

According to a national poll, 67.2% of the Qvaitican people (94 million answered) believe that a travel ban is in order. That percentage is more than necessary to receive attention from the government. So far, health screenings have been set in place, but Representative George Harris said "travel restrictions are an option." The Secretary of Health Blaise Farmar, said, "Our primary concern is the health of the Qvaitican people." She also said that the rest of the South Pacific also have to "take caution and take action" against the outbreak.

Issue #76: Sporaltryus declares war on Qvait

STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — The Federation of Sporaltryus has declared war on the Pacific Republic of Qvait. Due to the declaration, Sporaltryus has broken the treaty between it and Qvait. Immediately after it was declared, an emergency Congressional meeting was ordered.

In a press conference, President Dmitri Buzinsky condemned the declaration and said, "We are taking this very seriously and will be taking every appropriate wartime measure." House Speaker Aaron McBane said, "This is a declaration of war line none other. We have observed this with the former communist North Qvait in the Arctic, and this is no different."

Issue #77: Qvaiticans looking for quick admission into South Pacific Defense Organization

STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — The Qvaitican people is hoping that the military of Qvait is quickly admitted into the South Pacific Defense Organization (SPDO). If Qvait becomes a member of the SPDO, the Qvaitican government may be able to call upon the SPDO to aid Qvait in their war with Sporaltryus, who declared war on Qvait not so long ago.

President Dmitri Buzinsky said, "We are looking for neighbors in the region to receive humanitarian and military support." President of the Democratic Party of Qvait Shawn Euron said, "I hope that we can compromise with the Sporaltryan government." On the other hand, President of the Conservative Party Victor Cutter said, "Yes, we can compromise, but does it look like they will agree to any of our offers?" Conservative Presidential nominee Gabriel West agreed with Cutter, saying, "We do not want Sporaltryus to interfere with our domestic policy, and that is what this war is all about."

Issue #78: Peace talks fail, ultimatum given by Buzinsky

STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — President Dmitri Buzinsky of Qvait and President Jasper Henn of Sporaltryus had spent one hour in peace talks to no avail. However, during the talks, Buzinsky gave an ultimatum to the Sporaltryan leader. The talks brought no progress towards peace and instead brought about more conflict.

Peace talks on 25 October, 2014

President Buzinsky first came forward with an armistice proposal, then a ceasefire proposal, to which President Henn disagreed. In the meeting, Buzinsky accused Sporaltryus of being a hegemony. President Henn would not state why he invaded Qvait, which angered Buzinsky. Buzinsky gave an ultimatum, "If we do not end this conflict, I will make sure that the Qvaitican Defense Forces will be knocking on your front door in Aquica. We will assert our strength if you do not desist…The people of Qvait do not approve of your presence in our nation. Leave, or we will use force against your nation…We are giving you 24 hours to leave our nation, or we will use force against your nation."

Issue #79: Status of the Qvait–Sporaltryus War

STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — Sporaltryus has called off its war against Qvait, however Qvait will not end the war until Sporaltryus meets its demands. President Buzinsky wants Sporaltyus to terminate its war with Kringalia, which was declared on 29 October.

Peace talks had failed on 25 October, 2014

There are other demands for war reparations for the damages caused to Qvait's shores and especially damage caused upon the infrastructure of Sydney. The Qvaitican naval blockade to which the Minister of Foreign Affairs from the Federal Republic of Karnetvor called "illegal", will continue to be in place until Sporaltryus ends its war with Kringalia.

Issue #80: Recent developments in the Southwestern War

STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — In what many are no longer calling the Qvait–Sporaltryus War, rather the Southwestern War, tensions have escalated in the last week. There have been a number of peace talk proposals, and one more had arisen last night. However, there has been a debate about where the peace talks should be held.

Yesterday, Sporaltryan President Jasper Henn proposed to hold negotiations in Olius, deep into Sporaltryan territory. However, Qvait and other parties such as Kringalia, Ryccia, and Awesomiasa wanted a peace summit to be held somewhere that would have neutral mediation, such as the South Pacific Government Headquarters. However, Sporaltryus declined it. In order gain Sporaltryus' interest, Qvaitican President Dmitri Buzinsky offered a compromise, promising to disperse the naval blockade around Sporaltryus if the nation settles for peace. President Henn has yet to respond to Buzinsky's offer.
