STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — Today, the votes have begun to be counted and Democratic nominee Shawn Euron is ahead of Conservative nominee Gabriel West by a couple thousand votes. The presidential debate was on 28 November, and polls suggested that West won the debate. In a Capitol Qvait poll, the results showed West winning the election by a landslide. However, 75% of the votes are in, and Euron is leading with 43% of the votes while West has 42%. Even though he is trailing, West is confident that he will win, "I believe that it is the interest of the Qvaitican people to vote me in, because they know that I will get the job done in Capitol Qvait." Friday, 12 December, 2014 Issue #82: 2014 presidential election results are in, Congress
STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — In what seemed like was going to be the first presidential victory for the Democratic Party of Qvait, Conservative presidential nominee Gabriel West came up from behind to win the election with 43.9% of the Qvaitican votes, defeating Democrat Shawn Euron by three-tenths of a point. Gabriel West will be sworn in on 1 April, 2015 as the fifth President of Qvait and the fourth Conservative. Meanwhile, Vice President Dominic Frost will continue his duties at the said post for the second consecutive term. In the Congressional election, the Conservatives would pick up seven seats in the Senate, while gaining 15 seats in the House of Representatives, giving the Conservative Party a larger majority in both chambers of Congress. Wednesday, 24 December, 2014 Issue #83: Operation Saving Ryccia experiences initial success
LEGADA, RYCCIA — Recently, a terrorist group has emerged in Ryccia, a major ally of Qvait. The insurgents call themselves the Soviet Socialist Fighters of Ryccia and have moved across the islands, making territorial gains in the country. In Qvait, there have been mass demonstrations around the nation calling for the liberation of Ryccia. Luke Dawson, a Sydneysider protester, said, "Ryccia is the biggest ally that Qvait has, and they're in trouble. It is our moral duty and obligation to save and protect them." President Dmitri Buzinsky had said in a press conference last night that Operation Saving Ryccia is succeeding so far, "As commander-in-chief, I am leading this military to defend Ryccia and put down the terrorist insurgency. Furthermore, our navy has been deployed to prevent any naval attack committed by Darkstrait or any other nation." In the effort, Qvait had managed to take back parts of the Ryccian Bay Islands, and will cease fire on Christmas. However, it it likely that the military operation will continue after Christmas. Friday, 26 December, 2014 Issue #84: Christmas ceasefire ends, parties resume engagement, Sporaltryus
LEGADA, RYCCIA — Soon after the ceasefire deadline had passed at 11:59 pm on Christmas Day, SSFR terrorist insurgents began reigning fire upon Qvaitican helicopters in the Ryccian Bay Islands. At 12:37 am on 26 December, Sporaltryus had declared war on the legitimate government of Ryccia, vowing to launch an aerial campaign against Ryccia. A Qvaitican R-15 patrolling Ryccian aerospace
Shortly after Sporaltryus' announcement, President Buzinsky went to Congress, receiving approval from it to enact a no-fly zone, which the Qvaitican Air Force will enforce, in the Sporaltryan region. On another note, after the ceasefire ended, the Qvaitican Marine Corps took a Ryccian island in under an hour. Monday, 29 December, 2014 Issue #85: Qvaitican embassy established in Kingdom of Sedunn
GROVNE, SEDUNN — Today, the Qvaitican Department of State announced the commissioning of an embassy in the Kingdom of Sedunn. To the eyes of many in Qvait, this is a major diplomatic victory. The reason is because there are not many nations in the South Pacific in which Qvait has embassies in. However, the State Department hopes to see that change in 2015. In a public statement, President Dmitri Buzinsky said, "I hope to leave a lasting image from my presidency and that is the establishment of embassies with foreign nations." A large number of Qvaitican political analysts believe that even though Buzinsky will have opened embassies with nations in the South Pacific, he will not be popular in the history books. STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — It is a new year in Qvait. A massive celebration in the capital, fireworks everywhere in the country, and happiness all around. There is a gathering of four million people in the streets of Stockholm celebrating the new year. Furthermore, another million are gathering ocean-side in Sydney. New Year's fireworks in Sydney, January 2015 Lucas Williams, a member of the crowd in Sydney, said, "This is just one of those wonderful moments we have once a year. My family and I felt that we should take a step outside and enjoy the fireworks." When asked about his New Year's resolution, he said that he is looking to run in a 5K marathon. Several journalists around the nation went places to see what people wanted to do in 2015 and that is to carry out their resolutions. Meanwhile in Stockholm, former President Victor Cutter and his wife, Winston Island Queen Katelynn Williams, are sitting with President Elect Gabriel West, incoming First Lady Joanna West, Vice President Elect Dominic Frost, and incoming Second Lady Jennifer Frost, enjoying the New Year's celebration on a balcony of a skyscraper. SYDNEY, QVAIT — In response to major national security concerns, a second city is being built in the Abrams Bay. Secretary of Defense Brett Greene said, "This new city, which will be called Santa Nofre, will be home for the most important base in Qvaitican history." Secretary of Security Victor Cutter said, "Along with the base, the Domestic Intelligence Agency of Defense and Security will have an office in Santa Nofre." Monday, 2 February, 2015 Issue #88: First Secretary-General of SCO is appointed
SOVRANON, SOVONOR — On 23 January, 2015, the members of the Southern Cooperation Organization voted to appoint Ambassador Carlo Bazzoli of Kringalia as the first Secretary-General of the organization. The Qvaitican delegation at the votingplace had voiced support for the ambassador and Victoriano Stanton, Qvaitican ambassador to the World Assembly, said, "I am proud to hear that our neighbor's ambassador will be the first Secretary-General." The President-Elect of Qvait, Gabriel West, also supported Ambassador Bazzoli's appointment as Secretary-General, "Qvait will be watching what [Bazzoli] will be doing in his position. We are expecting many good things from him." It was said by a number of Qvaitican political experts that the Pacific Republic will be watching what the SCO will be doing to ensure international security and defense. Copyright 2013–2015. Wednesday, 4 February, 2015 Issue #89: Two months out from Inauguration Day
STOCKHOLM, QVAIT — The nation of Qvait has less than two months until a new president is sworn into office. This is the final two months of Dmitri Buzinsky's presidency and soon Gabriel West will take over. In his presidential campaign late last year, West swore to repeal President Buzinsky's "socialist" bills and usher in an era of peace and security for the country. If you do not know who President Elect Gabriel West is, then here is what you should know: Gabriel West was born on 6 February, 1967 during a time that control for Qvait was a battle between the Soviets and the natives of Qvait. He would be 10 years old when the Qvaiticans won their independence from the Soviet Union. In 1985 at the age of 18, West would enlist in the Qvaitican Navy. He would be part of the military when there were two Qvaits: a communist one, and a capitalist one. West was a very patriotic man and was quoted saying, "I would proudly die for this country while fighting to protect it." In the 90's, West served under the special operations branch of the Qvaitican Navy, called "Trident operators." While he was a special operator, he had executed classified operations for the now-defunct Intelligence Service of Secret Security (IS3). However in 1997, West would become wounded in action and would never see battle again. So, after the terrorist attacks on 11 September, 2001, in the United States, Gabriel West would work for the IS3 in gaining intelligence related to the communist half of Qvait. After performing a great service for his country, he would retire in 2008 when the government of Qvait would collapse under the leadership of socialist President Gregory Flanko. In the next four years, under a plethora of interim governments, West would work with fellow countrymen such as Victor Cutter and MacArthur Douglas to reestablish a new Qvaitican government. And so in 2012, the three had finally managed to start a new government. Saturday, 28 February, 2015 Issue #90: Qvaitican Congress bans fossil fuels
SANTA NOFRE, QVAIT — At the end of the month, the Qvaitican Congress passed the Cleaner Air Act (CAA) that banned the usage of fossil fuels. This came after numerous calls for a cleaner Qvait. Representative David Walker (Democrat) led the passage of the bill which received bipartisan support in both houses of Congress. Today, President Dmitri Buzinsky signed the bill into legislation. In a January 2015 survey, Qvaticans voted in favor of a small tax increase to better the environment of the nation. Even though the CAA had been signed, the bill's powers will slowly be enacted. Up to 1 March, 2018, each and every fossil fuel power plant will be closed one by one. Meanwhile, solar power stations and wind farms will be replacing the power plants. Up to 1 March, 2023, fossil fuel-dependent vehicles will be recycled and turned into ones that depends on alternative energy. The CAA is expected to be fully enacted by the year of 2025.
