The Southern Socialist Union HQ
#31

Basically, stay neutral. We can provide support if Ryccia is a potential threat to the international community and to our allies, or invading another innocent country without justification. But in most wars, we either prefer to act as peacekeepers, sending troops in peacekeeping missions or just stay neutral.

There's a Laiwanese saying that goes:
"A hui ov fetter tyin az oist"

Which translates to:
"A hand is better than a fist"

In the event of war, there is a good chance that the SSU would become involved. You may want to consider this.

Question: If the SSU decides to go to war, does that mean that everyone needs to deploy troops to fight? Because we rather not, unless for a fair goal that would benefit everyone, even the enemy.

The charter does say "mutual defense". However, this is not defined, and during the Darkstrait Civil War, Sporaltryus was limited to sending only some helicopters, not a full army.

Well, if that is what it takes, then we have no problem with this.

Sporaltryus was still reeling back from the immense destruction caused by our own war. We couldn't send anything else, and I do believe that is a condition of mutual defense.

Section 3, Clause 3 of the Socialist Papers states: "Exclusively under the imminent danger of one or more of the Members of the Union, for which diplomatic negotiations cannot have results, the treat and use of force are to be allowed after the public approval of the Allied Assembly until the resolution of such conflict."

So if the Assembly approves declaring war on a third parties for said mutual defense reasons, you are committed to it.

However, if there are valid pratical reasons that prevents you for sending military assistance, Section 2, Clause 6 states: A Member has the Right to Refrain Assistance if its nation is not in condition to bring it. Nevertheless, the Members must declare the specific reason/s for not being able to bring assistance.

Regarding your application, I'd like to know if you have any costitutional or legislative guarantees that safeguard socialism in case of an attempted capitalist takeover and if in capitalist provinces are nevertheless implemented some socialist measures to ensure the basic rights of the working class.

First, our declaring war procedure is like this:
The Congress declares war if a resolution declaring war is passed, but the country is still not at war. There needs to be a nationwide referendum for such a declaration. If 60% of the votes go in favour of the declaration, Laiwan is officially declaring war. So yes, we might be able to help, but if our people allow it.

And there are laws in place in the capitalistic provinces that are pro-socialist, such as a high minimum wage and high worker rights. There is also a worker right that is maybe not socialist, but fair: No worker can be fired unless the worker is horrible at its job. That means if the company enters a low in profits, then they can't fire employees to cover up the costs. They need to see other alternatives, because the workers are protected by this right. This also protects employees from being fired for personal reasons, like those situations that a person is fired because a family member broke up with the boss's family member? That won't be able to happen with this right. This right also applies to the socialist provinces. You see, Laiwanese Capitalism is not capitalism, is capitalism mixed with socialism a little. There is also democracy in all provinces, socialist or capitalist.

It is time to discuss a declaration of war against Ryccia.

Laiwan, what is the guarantee that you shall enter the war with Ryccia if it is declared upon by the SSU?
